Job summary

EXL Health is seeking a Product Owner in Chennai to lead documentation, sprint planning, and story management within an Agile/Scrum team. You will represent the customer voice, drive acceptance criteria, and ensure alignment between business goals and technical delivery.

The role requires 3+ years in similar roles, strong communication and stakeholder management, and experience with Jira/Confluence. A CSPO qualification is preferred, with opportunities for growth in healthcare IT projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as Product Owner or similar in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and product lifecycle management.
• Excellent communication, documentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence or similar.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead documentation efforts: create and maintain user stories, FSDs, and acceptance criteria.
• Sprint planning and execution with engineering and Scrum teams to prioritize backlogs and deliver features.
• Story management: write and refine stories aligned with business goals.
• Integrate with Scrum team as voice of the customer across agile ceremonies.
• Coordinate validation with QA and business users to meet acceptance criteria.
• Translate business needs into clear technical requirements for engineering.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Documentation Efforts: Own the creation and maintenance of detailed documentation including user stories, functional specifications (FSDs), and acceptance criteria.
• Sprint Planning & Execution: Collaborate with engineering and Scrum teams to plan sprints, prioritize backlogs, and ensure timely delivery of features.
• Story Management: Write, refine, and manage user stories in the product backlog, ensuring clarity and alignment with business goals.
• Scrum Team Integration: Act as the voice of the customer within the Scrum team, participating in all agile ceremonies and ensuring continuous alignment between business and technical teams.
• Validation Leadership: Coordinate with QA and business users to validate features and ensure they meet acceptance criteria and business expectations.
• Business Translation: Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and engineering, translating complex business needs into clear technical requirements.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role within an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and product lifecycle management.

Preferred Experience:
