Job summary

A manufacturing firm in Tamil Nadu is seeking a qualified lathe operator to manufacture components on conventional lathe machines. You will read engineering drawings, set tools and machines, and ensure proper cutting conditions to meet daily targets.

The role requires hands-on experience with turning, threading and machining parameters, plus accurate measurement using calipers and micrometers. On-site work with adherence to safety and 5S standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in conventional lathe machine operation.
• Knowledge of turning, facing, drilling, boring and threading operations.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of cutting tools and machining parameters.
• Good knowledge of measuring instruments.
• Basic knowledge of tolerances and fits.
• Ability to identify machining defects and take corrective action.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

• Operate conventional lathe machines for manufacturing components.
• Perform turning, facing, drilling, boring, threading, grooving and chamfering operations.
• Read and understand engineering drawings and component specifications.
• Set and adjust tools, workpieces and machine parameters.
• Select appropriate cutting tools and maintain proper cutting conditions.
• Check component dimensions using Vernier caliper, micrometer and other measuring instruments.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspection.
• Maintain required dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Identify and rectify basic machining and tooling issues.
• Maintain machine cleanliness and follow preventive maintenance practices.
• Achieve daily production targets as per the production plan.
• Follow quality, safety and 5S procedures.
• Maintain proper production and inspection records.
