Job summary

Flexitest is a leading supplier of Material Testing Instruments based in Mumbai, India. We are hiring for a role responsible for testing packaging materials and managing NABL-compliant laboratory operations.

The candidate will conduct physical, functional, and mechanical testing, establish the testing lab, and support accreditation processes, ensuring test plans, documentation, and timely reporting are in place.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging Technology, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in packaging testing, laboratory testing, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in Material Testing Instruments.
• Strong knowledge of ISO standards, NABL requirements, packaging testing standards, SOPs, and laboratory quality systems.
• Experience in setting up a testing laboratory from scratch and supporting NABL accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical, functional, and mechanical testing of packaging materials and finished packs.
• Perform OTR, WVTR, and other permeation testing for various packaging applications.
• Establish and develop the packaging testing laboratory, including equipment, test methods, SOPs, documentation, and quality systems.
• Implement laboratory systems in accordance with NABL requirements and support accreditation processes.

Job Description

Job Summary Responsible for testing of packaging material and finished-pack testing, including physical, functional, mechanical, OTR, and WVTR testing. The role also involves establishing and managing laboratory operations in accordance with NABL requirements, supporting the laboratory through the accreditation process.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct physical, functional, and mechanical testing of packaging materials and finished packs.
• Perform OTR, WVTR, and other permeation testing for food, pharmaceutical, beverage, and other packaging applications.
• Establish and develop the packaging testing laboratory, including equipment, test methods, SOPs, documentation, and quality systems.
• Implement laboratory systems in accordance with NABL requirements and support the complete accreditation process.
• Prepare test plans, coordinate samples, perform testing as per applicable standards and customer specifications, and ensure timely reporting.
• Monitor equipment calibration, maintenance, environmental conditions, and laboratory performance.
• Analyse test results, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings to customers and internal teams.
• Maintain laboratory records, quality documentation, equipment records, data integrity, and traceability.
• Investigate test failures, deviations, and non-conformities and support corrective and continual improvement actions.
• Coordinate with customers, quality, production, and other stakeholders to fulfill testing and accreditation requirements.
