Job summary

PeopleStrong in Pune is seeking a CSSD shift technician to manage daily operations, monitor sterilization processes, and coordinate with other departments. The role requires ensuring safety, stock control, and adherence to hospital policies during the shift.

You will guide team members, handle training needs, and participate in audits while maintaining clean, compliant CSSD practices in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Take over messages from previous shift regarding pending work or equipment.
• Assess workload and staff availability; decide on adjustments and shift handovers.
• Plan daily tasks across sections to meet schedule and maintain safety policies.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies and safety procedures.
• Oversee sterilization monitoring and maintain relevant records.
• Guide and train team members and trainees; provide feedback on performance.
• Troubleshoot shift issues; escalate to Manager as needed.
• Cover for Technicians during departmental needs.
• Check and record stock levels of surgical consumables and monitor expiry dates.
• Receive surgical material and file transfer slips.
• Maintain tidiness and housekeeping across all sections; coordinate with related departments.
• Coordinate with other departments for smooth workflow.
• Participate in staff orientation and departmental audits.
• Maintain positive professional relationships with CSSD customers.

Job Description

• To take over messages from previous shift with regard to pending work, equipments or any other specific message.(messages specific to particular sections will be received by that respective section duty person only unless he is absent or under training.)
• To check manpower availability in the shift and in case of shortage try to assess the work load and decide whether it is possible to manage with required adjustment or a person from previous shift needs to be retained; in that case check for the turn .
• To assess the work load in various sections (with the judgment of time required to complete a particular task following an ideal method) depending upon the scheduled and added cases for the day and accordingly decide the work allotment and duties in respective section.
• Ensure that staff members adhere to all hospital policies and procedures & implement the safety policy.
• Ensure safe and effective operations of all the machines in the CSSD.
• To be responsible for sterilization monitoring & filing of sterility related documents in their respective shifts.
• To guide the team mates and trainees in their work and to evaluate whether they are performing perfectly or need additional training.
• To solve the problems arising during that shift and in case of difficulty-contact your Manager.
• To take up the duties of Technicians as per the need of departmental work.
• Check and record stock level of all surgical consumables and monitor expiry date.
• To receive the surgical material & file the transfer slips.
• To check tidiness and cleanliness of the department in all the sections. Ensure appropriate housekeeping is carried out including additional maintenance cleaning as appropriate.
• To co-ordinate with other departments (like any of the user department, laundry, House Keeping, Engineering,) as per the need of the work.
• Participate in the orientation of all new staff members to the department routine.
• Participate in the departmental audits.
• Establish and maintain positive professional relationship within the department & with all the CSSD customers.
