Job summary

Flex in Chennai is seeking a Junior Engineer - Quality to support design and manufacturing teams in defining process parameters and supplier capability. You will assist in supplier approvals, PPAP submissions, and continuous improvement using Lean and Six-Sigma techniques.

You will work on root cause analysis, quality documentation, and cross-functional product support, with a strong emphasis on English communication and adaptability to a dynamic EMS environment.

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in ECE/EEE/IC/Mechanical/Mechatronics with 0-2 years in APQP, PPAP, FMEA in manufacturing (EMS preferred).
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
  • Knowledge of quality and business systems.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA.
  • Knowledge of TS16949.
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques.
  • Understanding engineering drawings.
  • Understanding manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
  • Planning and prioritizing activities.
  • Open for flexible shifts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability.
  • Support supplier approval by assessing capabilities and HSE risks.
  • Assist in new product launches to meet supplier quality standards.
  • Coordinate root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier quality issues.
  • Review supplier processes and collaborate on improvements.
  • Promote Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke, MSA, PFMEA methodologies.
  • Document inspection results and PPAP-related submissions as required.
  • Escalate unresolved supplier quality issues within projects.
  • Support Quality Manager in monitoring supplier quality performance.
  • Report KPIs to ensure non-conformities are prevented.
  • Prepare and validate First Article Inspections.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams for new or changed products.
  • Coordinate cost recovery related to supplier quality issues.
  • Assist in internal/external audit readiness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct quality reviews and present progress to clients.
  • Stay updated on supply and demand changes affecting materials.
  • Build data collection and analytics capabilities for insights.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we re looking to add a Junior Engineer - Quality in Chennai.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements
  • Support in supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks
  • Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards
  • Follow up with suppliers for root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities
  • Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Provide concise, complete and accurate documentation of inspection results relative to area of responsibility. In appropriate functional areas, this refers to supporting inspection and test status requirements defined by regulations, engineering product specifications or Control Plans, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approval or product warrant submission
  • Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers
  • Support the Quality Manager to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system
  • Preparation Validation of First Article Inspection
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products in meeting customer requirements
  • Manage and coordinate supplier Material/Non Material cost recovery for Supplier Quality issues
  • Support in Internal /External Audit readiness
  • Undertake special projects as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Quality control of work by appropriate reviews
  • Write reports and present progress at project meetings and to clients
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact.
  • Building big data collection and analytics capabilities to uncover customer, product, and operational insights
  • Analyzing data sources and proposing solutions to strategic planning problems on a one-time or periodic basis
  • Providing data-driven decision support
  • Leverages data analytics and statistical methods to optimize manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends
The experience we re looking to add to our team:
  • B. E / B. Tech in ECE / EEE / IC / Mechanical / Mechatronics with (0-2) years of experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) in Manufacturing set up, Preferably in EMS Industry.
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
