Responsibilities

  • Handle complete procurement activities from Purchase Requisition (PR) to Purchase Order (PO).
  • Procure Capex and Opex items, including spares, consumables, and maintenance materials required for steel plant operations.
  • Manage vendor communication, negotiations, and order execution.
  • Track deliveries and ensure timely material availability.
  • Handle post-order activities such as: Payment requests, Delivery follow-up, SRR clearance, Quality claim management, Closure of debit balances.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and suppliers for smooth procurement operations.
  • Handle import procurement activities and related documentation.
  • Assist in procurement under EPCG licenses and manage international payment terms.
  • Review and manage contracts for capital equipment procurement.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Junior Engineer - Project Procurement with experience in the steel industry. The candidate should be capable of independently handling procurement activities related to projects and MRO requirements, from requisition to final order closure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle complete procurement activities from Purchase Requisition (PR) to Purchase Order (PO).
  • Procure Capex and Opex items, including spares, consumables, and maintenance materials required for steel plant operations.
  • Manage vendor communication, negotiations, and order execution.
  • Track deliveries and ensure timely material availability.
  • Handle post-order activities such as:
    • Payment requests
    • Delivery follow-up
    • SRR (Stores Receipt Report) clearance
    • Quality claim management
    • Closure of debit balances
  • Coordinate with internal departments and suppliers for smooth procurement operations.
  • Handle import procurement activities and related documentation.
  • Assist in procurement under EPCG licenses and manage international payment terms.
  • Review and manage contracts for capital equipment procurement.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Project Procurement or MRO Procurement.
  • Candidates from the Steel Industry only will be considered.
  • Candidates from non-mechanical educational backgrounds will not be considered.
SAP MM (Mandatory)

Hands-on experience in:

  • Purchase Order creation
  • Payment Requests
  • LC (Letter of Credit) Requests
  • Procurement tracking and documentation

Note: Basic SAP knowledge will not be sufficient.

Advanced Excel (Mandatory)

Hands-on experience in:

  • Data analysis and reporting
  • MIS preparation
  • Advanced Excel functions and formulas
  • Procurement tracking and spend analysis

Note: Basic Excel knowledge will not be sufficient.

Additional Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Import Procurement and EPCG License procedures.
  • Basic understanding of export processes.
  • Good knowledge of international payment terms and commercial practices.
  • Experience in handling contracts for capital equipment and understanding critical contractual clauses.
  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor without team support.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
