Job description

We are looking for a Junior Chip-Level Engineer with a strong background in biomedical engineering and electronic circuit troubleshooting. The role involves diagnosing and repairing medical equipment at the chip/component level, supporting equipment maintenance and calibration, and assisting in technical projects and service operations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Advanced Troubleshooting & Repair
  • Diagnose and repair complex faults in medical equipment at the chip/component level.
  • Troubleshoot circuit boards, electronic components, and control systems.
  • Use advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve equipment failures.
  • Perform component-level testing, replacement, and repair of electronic circuits.
2. Research & Development
  • Support the development and testing of new biomedical devices and technologies.
  • Collaborate with R&D and technical teams to improve existing equipment and solutions.
  • Assist in identifying technical improvements and innovative repair solutions.
3. Technical Support & Leadership
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Support the team in resolving complex technical issues.
  • Take ownership of assigned technical projects and ensure timely completion.
4. Maintenance & Calibration
  • Perform and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Support calibration and performance testing of high-value medical equipment.
  • Develop and follow maintenance procedures to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and integration of biomedical equipment.
  • Ensure proper functioning and integration of equipment with hospital systems and other medical technologies.
  • Conduct post-installation testing and troubleshooting.
6. Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all service, repair, and maintenance activities comply with applicable industry standards and safety requirements.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures while handling electronic components and medical equipment.
  • Maintain a safe working environment during service activities.
7. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of repair, maintenance, calibration, and service activities.
  • Prepare technical reports on equipment performance, failures, and recurring issues.
  • Maintain proper documentation of replaced components and repair history.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and vendors for technical support and spare parts.
  • Follow up on technical issues requiring OEM assistance.
  • Support vendor coordination to ensure timely resolution of equipment-related issues.
9. Training & Knowledge Sharing
  • Conduct basic technical training for healthcare staff and team members on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Share technical knowledge and troubleshooting practices with junior engineers and technicians.
  • Assist in developing technical training materials and resources.
  • Keep updated on the latest developments in biomedical equipment and electronic technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance processes.
  • Implement effective solutions to improve equipment uptime and service efficiency.
Educational Qualification & Experience
  • Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Biomedical Engineering or a relevant electronics discipline.
  • Minimum 5 months of relevant experience in the biomedical/electronics field.
  • Strong practical knowledge of biomedical equipment and electronic systems.
  • Experience in chip-level/component-level troubleshooting and repair is preferred.
Required Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong expertise in troubleshooting and repairing electronic circuits at the chip/component level.
  • Good understanding of biomedical equipment and electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as:
  • Digital multimeters
  • Logic analyzers
  • Other electronic testing equipment
  • Good understanding of circuit diagrams, PCB troubleshooting, and electronic components.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel to customer/hospital sites as required.
