Job summary

GAVS Technologies N.A., Inc. is seeking an experienced L2 Azure Cloud Engineer to manage and optimize our Azure cloud infrastructure in Chennai.

You will handle day-to-day operations, incident resolution, and deployment tasks while coordinating with L1 and L3 teams to ensure high availability, security, and performance. The role emphasizes IaC with Terraform/ARM/Bicep, monitoring setup, and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on Azure cloud administration/engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Azure Compute, Storage, Networking and Security services.
• Experience with PowerShell or Azure CLI for automation.
• Hands-on Terraform/ARM/Bicep for provisioning and automation.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Windows/Linux server administration experience.
• Good understanding of DNS, VPN, firewall, and load balancing.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Azure Monitor/Log Analytics.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced L2 Azure Cloud Engineer to manage, monitor, and optimize our Azure cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will handle day-to-day Azure Management and operations, incident resolution, and implementation tasks while working closely with L1 support and L3 architects to ensure high availability, security, and performance of cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support Azure infrastructure including Virtual Machines, VNets, Storage Accounts, Load Balancers, and Azure AD.
• Perform incident and problem management (L2 escalations from L1), root cause analysis (RCA), and timely resolution within defined SLAs.
• Implement and manage Azure IaaS/PaaS services: VMs, App Services, AKS, Azure SQL, Storage, Networking (VNet, NSG, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute).
• Configure and maintain Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights for proactive monitoring and alerting.
• Manage Identity & Access Management using Azure Active Directory (Azure AD/Entra ID), RBAC, and Conditional Access policies.
• Support backup and disaster recovery solutions (Azure Backup, Site Recovery).
• Work with Infrastructure as Code tools such as ARM Templates, Bicep, or Terraform for provisioning and automation.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Handle patching, capacity planning, cost optimization, and performance tuning of cloud resources.
• Ensure adherence to Cloud and well architected framework best practices, compliance standards, and Azure Policy governance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Network, Security, Application) for change management and deployments.
• Document runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base articles for recurring issues.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and provide support during planned maintenance/outages.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of hands‑on experience in Azure cloud administration/engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Azure Compute, Storage, Networking, and Security services.
• Experience with PowerShell / Azure CLI scripting for automation.
• Hands‑on experience with Terraform, ARM Templates, or Bicep.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipeline management.
• Working knowledge of Windows/Linux server administration.
• Understanding networking concepts (DNS, VPN, Firewall, Load Balancing).
• Experience with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana, or similar).
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
• Good troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to work under SLA pressure.

Preferred / Good to Have

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104) or Azure Solutions Architect (AZ‑305).
• Experience with Kubernetes/AKS and containerization.
• Experience with Azure Security Center/Defender for Cloud.
• Scripting knowledge in Python for automation tasks is important.
