Job summary

Whitefield Careers seeks an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer - Azure to lead design, deployment, and support of enterprise Azure environments. This role focuses on managing complex infrastructure, high-availability, and automation across multi-customer Managed Services contexts.

The successful candidate will own L2/L3 escalation, drive cost optimization and security hardening, and collaborate with security, network, DevOps, and application teams to deliver reliable cloud operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT required.
• AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) required.
• AZ-305 or AZ-500 preferred.
• ITIL Foundation is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead Azure infrastructure operations and act as senior escalation point for L2/L3 teams.
• Design, deploy, and manage Azure services including VMs, VNets, Load Balancers, and Storage.
• Implement monitoring with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Alerts.
• Build and maintain automation using PowerShell, Azure Automation, Logic Apps, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Review Azure Policies, governance, tagging, and compliance.
• Support DR strategies, backup validation, patching cycles, and BCP testing.
• Document architectures, configurations, runbooks, and best practices.
• Collaborate with security, network, DevOps, and application teams.
• Participate in shifts and on-call support for critical incidents.
• Mentor team members and drive continuous improvement.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer - Azure to lead the design, deployment, and support of enterprise Azure environments. This role involves managing complex Azure infrastructure, handling advanced incident resolutions, driving automation initiatives, and providing technical leadership within the operations team.

The ideal candidate has deep hands-on Azure expertise, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to support multi-customer Managed Services environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Azure infrastructure operations and act as a senior technical escalation point for L2/L3 teams.
• Design, deploy, and manage Azure services including:
• Virtual Machines, AV Sets/Zones, Load Balancers, Virtual Networks
• Azure Storage, Azure Backup, ASR, Key Vault
• Azure App Services, Functions, AKS (optional), Azure SQL (platform-level)
• Optimize performance, cost, security, and availability across Azure workloads.
• Manage identity and access using Azure AD / Entra ID, RBAC, Conditional Access.
• Implement and maintain monitoring solutions using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Alerts.
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving compute, networking, storage, OS, and security.
• Build and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell, Azure Automation, Logic Apps, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Review and implement Azure Policies, governance controls, tagging standards, and compliance requirements.
• Support DR strategies, backup validation, patching cycles, and BCP testing.
• Document architecture, configurations, runbooks, and best practices.
• Collaborate with security, network, DevOps, and application teams to ensure seamless cloud operations.
• Participate in shifts and on-call support for critical incidents.
• Mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical Skills Required

• Hands-on expertise with Azure IaaS/PaaS services:
• VMs, VNets, NSG, Peering, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway
• Azure Backup, Site Recovery, Key Vault, Azure Storage
• App Services, Azure SQL, Load Balancers, App Gateway
• Strong understanding of Azure governance, cost management, RBAC, and security best practices.
• Advanced experience in PowerShell scripting, Azure Automation, and automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of ARM/Bicep/Terraform for infrastructure deployments (preferred).
• Strong Windows or Linux server administration background.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps pipelines, Git, and YAML-based automation (nice-to-have).
• Experience with enterprise monitoring tools: Azure Monitor, Sentinel (optional), Grafana, etc.
• Understanding of ITIL processes and Managed Services operations.

Qualifications

• ITIL Foundation certification is an advantage.
