Job summary

Senior ServiceNow Developer Focus: CMDB, CSDM and Integrations Role Summary

The candidate should have a strong background in ServiceNow development and customization, with extensive experience designing, implementing, and governing Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and Common Service Data Model (CSDM) capabilities, together with a proven track record building robust platform and data integrations.

The role requires deep knowledge of CMDB architecture, CSDM data modelling, the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE), enterprise integration patterns (REST, SOAP, IntegrationHub, Service Graph Connectors), and data governance. The Senior ServiceNow Developer will be responsible for building scalable platform solutions that improve service visibility, configuration data quality, integration reliability, and business-service alignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, configuration, and implementation of ServiceNow solutions, including custom applications, workflows, integrations, and platform enhancements.
• Collaborate with business, infrastructure, security, and application stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Own and enhance the CMDB implementation, including CI class design, identification and reconciliation rules, data sources, relationships, lifecycle states, normalization, and data certification.
• Implement and operationalize CSDM principles across foundation data, design, manage technical services, sell/consume, and service portfolio domains, aligned with the organization’s maturity and roadmap.
• Design and maintain application services, business applications, technical services, service offerings, dynamic CI groups, and their relationships in accordance with CSDM guidance.
• Configure and improve CMDB Health dashboards, completeness, correctness, compliance, duplicate management, orphan CI remediation, stale CI controls, and data-quality reporting.
• Design and build integrations that populate and reconcile CMDB data from multiple sources, including ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping, cloud platforms, endpoint tools, asset systems, monitoring solutions, and third‑party systems.
• Create and maintain business rules, Script Includes, client scripts, UI policies, data policies, Flow Designer flows, IntegrationHub spokes, and other configuration elements.
• Architect, develop, and maintain enterprise integrations using REST, SOAP, MID Server, IntegrationHub spokes and ETL, Service Graph Connectors, import sets, transform maps, scripted REST APIs, and robust error‑handling and reconciliation patterns.
• Implement security controls, including ACLs, roles, data segregation, and secure integration practices.
• Monitor and optimize platform performance, scalability, maintainability, upgrade readiness, and technical debt.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, design assurance, troubleshooting support, and mentorship to developers and administrators.
• Partner with process owners and platform governance teams to define CMDB/CSDM standards, ownership, stewardship, and continuous‑improvement plans.
• Stay current with ServiceNow product releases, CMDB/CSDM guidance, platform best practices, and emerging capabilities.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in ServiceNow development and administration, including experience delivering enterprise‑scale implementations.
• Strong hands‑on experience with ServiceNow CMDB, including CI class modeling, relationships, Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE), reconciliation rules, data sources, transform maps, and CMDB Health.
• Practical experience implementing or maturing CSDM, including mapping business applications, application services, technical services, service offerings, and supporting foundation data.
• Strong experience designing and operating ServiceNow integrations end to end, including MID Server setup, authentication and credentials, data source configuration, and reconciliation of data ingested into the CMDB from Discovery, Service Mapping, and third‑party sources.
• In‑depth understanding of CMDB governance, data ownership, lifecycle management, certification, normalization, duplicate remediation, and data‑quality controls.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Glide APIs, HTML, CSS, XML, and ServiceNow scripting and configuration.
• Proven experience developing and implementing scoped or custom applications on the ServiceNow platform.
• Deep, hands‑on experience building ServiceNow integrations using REST, SOAP, IntegrationHub (flows, actions, spokes, and ETL), Service Graph Connectors, scripted REST APIs, web services, and asynchronous or queued integration mechanisms.
• Solid understanding of infrastructure domains, application dependencies, and how they are modeled as CIs and relationships in the CMDB.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex platform, integration, data‑quality, and CMDB issues.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD), or equivalent demonstrable platform expertise.

Preferred Skills

• Relevant ServiceNow CMDB, CSDM, and integration micro‑certifications, or other applicable implementation certifications.
• Hands‑on experience with CSDM adoption assessments, maturity roadmaps, data‑model remediation, and migration from legacy or custom service models.
• Experience with Service Graph Connectors, Multisource CMDB, CMDB Data Manager, Data Certification, and IntegrationHub ETL.
• Knowledge of cloud and infrastructure platforms such as AWS, Azure, VMware, Kubernetes, network devices, databases, and enterprise applications.
