Job summary

Citi is seeking a senior full‑stack engineer to join its Finance Technology group in Pune. You will design and build scalable enterprise applications using React, TypeScript, Node.js and Java/Spring, with microservices and cloud deployments (AWS/GCP).

You will mentor teams, implement APIs, and shape engineering standards across OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and test‑driven development using Jest, JUnit and Mockito. Comfortable with global stakeholders.

Overview

Finance Technology enables Citi to achieve its day‑to‑day and long‑term growth goals by providing services, technical solutions and infrastructure across the bank. These solutions help Citi comply with regulatory mandates and empower the business to reach both current and future objectives. Finance Technology pushes the limits of technology, adhering to Citi’s strategic architecture principles and supporting the end‑to‑end integration of multiple global functions—including Finance, Risk and Controllers.

Responsibilities

• Manage all technology standards within the functional area, ensuring development, understanding and adherence worldwide.
• Set goals within the functional area that are delivered to the appropriate Operations & Technology organizations.
• Contribute to IT Project Leadership to harmonize with overall business/technology objectives, ensuring teams are adequately staffed and possess the required skills.
• Provide an environment where subject‑matter experts can work efficiently and deliver effectively.
• Manage execution of IT strategy and roadmap for the assigned technology area.
• Apply an in‑depth understanding of engineering concepts and procedures, including knowledge of related areas.
• Responsible for training and coaching team members, performance management, monitoring work quantity and quality, and addressing development needs.
• Make evaluative judgments based on information analysis in complex or unique situations, utilizing multiple information sources.
• Negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate with external parties.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of strong experience in Application Development or systems analysis.
• Strong experience architecting highly scalable enterprise applications.
• Extensive experience in system analysis and programming of software applications.
• Experience managing and implementing successful projects.
• Proven engineering experience building robust, scalable and maintainable applications in the Capital Markets Technology industry.
• Build, deploy and test application components in a development environment during the implementation phase, working with all layers of the application stack.
• Work proactively and independently to address project requirements, articulating issues or challenges with enough lead time to mitigate delivery risks.
• Influence and negotiate with senior technical leaders from partner teams of software engineers, DevOps and production support staff to deliver robust software solutions.
• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
• Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment.
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
• Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices.

Technical Skills

• 11+ years of strong experience in full‑stack development using React, TypeScript, Node.js, stylesheets, Java/JVM‑based languages such as Java, Kotlin and microservices.
• Strong hands‑on experience designing and building UI frameworks with React, following the latest UI practices and guidelines.
• Strong experience developing APIs and their ecosystems.
• Hands‑on experience with React, JavaScript, Java/Spring/Spring Cloud/Spring Data JPA/Spring Boot microservices.
• Strong troubleshooting skills using debuggers, logs, etc.
• Strong understanding of test‑driven development using Jest, Cypress, JavaScript, JUnit, Mockito.
• Experience with public clouds such as AWS and GCP is an advantage.
• Experience with OpenShift, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of build and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, UDeploy, Harness, NPM, Maven, Gradle.
• Implement unit testing and TDD to ensure software quality and maintainability.
• Proficiency in SQL databases, MongoDB and Oracle (preferred).

Nice to have

• Experience with observability and monitoring tech stacks.
• Understanding of Gen AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Co‑Pilot, Devin, etc.
• Understanding of middleware such as TIBCO RV, EMS, Solace, Kafka.
• Knowledge of Python; Gen AI will be a plus.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree, university degree or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
