Responsibilities
- Manage technology standards across the functional area, ensuring global adherence.
- Set goals within the functional area that are delivered to appropriate Operations & Technology organizations.
- Contribute to IT project leadership, harmonizing with overall business and technology objectives and ensuring adequate staffing and skill sets.
- Provide an environment where subject‑matter experts can work efficiently and deliver effectively.
- Manage the execution of IT strategy and roadmap for the assigned technology area.
- Apply an in‑depth understanding of concepts and procedures within engineering and basic knowledge of other areas.
- Train, coach, and manage performance of team members, monitoring quantity and quality of work and addressing development needs.
- Make evaluative judgments based on information analysis in complicated or unique situations, utilizing multiple sources of information.
- Negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate with external parties.
- Assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation, safeguarding Citi, its clients, and assets, driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and escalating control issues with transparency.
Qualifications
- 9+ years of strong experience in application development or systems analysis roles.
- Strong experience in architecting enterprise‑level, highly scalable applications.
- Extensive experience in system analysis and programming of software applications, including project management.
- Proven engineering experience building robust, scalable, and maintainable applications in the Capital Markets Technology industry.
- Experience building, deploying, and testing application components across all layers of the application stack.
- Proactively address project requirements and articulate issues or challenges early to manage delivery risks.
- Conduct code reviews, test case reviews, and ensure code meets requirements.
- Influence and negotiate with senior technical leaders from partner teams of software engineers, devOps, and production support staff to deliver robust software solutions, ensuring effective collaboration across functions.
- Adapt priorities quickly as circumstances change.
- Experience working in financial services or a large, complex, and/or global environment.
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities, and reporting to identify best practices.
- Strong analytic and diagnostic skills.
- Able to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams.
- Demonstrate independence, prioritization, and ownership of project or initiative components.
- Work under pressure and meet tight deadlines or unexpected changes.
- Track record of operational process changes and improvement.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
Technical Skills – Must Have
- 9+ years of strong experience in full‑stack development using React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Java/JVM‑based languages such as Java or Kotlin.
- Hands‑on experience designing and building UI frameworks with React, following the latest UI framework practices and guidelines.
- Strong API development experience and ecosystem knowledge.
- Proficiency in React, JavaScript, Java/Spring/Spring Cloud/Spring Data JPA, Spring Boot, and microservices.
- Troubleshooting skills using debuggers, logs, and other tools.
- Strong understanding of test‑driven development using Jest, Cypress, JavaScript, JUnit, and Mockito.
- Experience with public clouds such as AWS or GCP is an advantage.
- Experience with OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of build and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, UDeploy, Harness, NPM, Maven, and Gradle.
- Implement unit testing and TDD to ensure software quality and maintainability.
- Proficiency in SQL databases, MongoDB, and Oracle.
Nice to Have
- Experience with observability and monitoring tech stacks.
- Knowledge of Gen AI‑based productivity tools such as Microsoft Co‑Pilot or similar; understanding of Middleware such as Tibco RV, EMS, Solace, Kafka.
- Understanding of Python and Gen AI.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
