Overview

Finance Technology enables Citi to achieve its day‑to‑day and long‑term growth goals, supporting the execution of Citi’s Strategy by providing services, technical solutions, and infrastructure across the bank. In Finance Technology we push the limits of technology, adhering to Citi’s strategic architecture principles and supporting end‑to‑end integration of multiple global functions, including Finance, Risk, and Controllers.

Responsibilities

• Manage technology standards across the functional area, ensuring development, understanding, and adherence globally.
• Set goals within the functional area that are delivered to appropriate Operations and Technology organizations.
• Contribute to the IT Project Leadership function to harmonize business and technology objectives and ensure teams are adequately staffed with the required skill sets.
• Provide an environment where subject matter experts can work efficiently and deliver effectively.
• Manage execution of IT strategy and roadmap for the assigned technology area.
• Apply an in‑depth understanding of engineering concepts and procedures and basic knowledge of those elements in other areas.
• Train, coach, and perform performance management activities for team members, monitoring quantity and quality of work and addressing developmental needs.
• Make evaluative judgments based on information analysis in complicated or unique situations, utilizing multiple sources of information.
• Negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate with external parties.
• Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency. Supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of strong experience in application development or systems analysis.
• Strong experience in architecting enterprise‑level, highly scalable applications.
• Extensive experience in system analysis and programming of software applications, including managing and implementing successful projects.
• Proven engineering experience building robust, scalable, and maintainable applications in the capital markets technology industry.
• Ability to build, deploy, and test application components in a development environment during the implementation phase with all layers of the application stack.
• Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues or challenges early to manage delivery risks.
• Conduct code reviews, test case reviews, and ensure code meets requirements. Influence and negotiate with senior technical leaders from partner teams of software engineers, DevOps, and production support staff to deliver robust software solutions.
• Ensure the team collaborates effectively across functions.
• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
• Experience working in financial services or a large, complex, global environment with clear, concise written and verbal communication.
• Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities, and related reporting to identify best practices.
• Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative.
• Ability to manage under pressure and meet tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
• Proven track record of operational process changes and improvement.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.

Technical Skills

• 9+ years of strong experience in full‑stack development using React, TypeScript, Node.js, stylesheets, and Java/JVM‑based languages such as Java and Kotlin; strong hands‑on experience designing and building UI frameworks with React in line with the latest UI framework practices and guidelines.
• Strong experience in API development and its ecosystem.
• Hands‑on experience with React, JavaScript, Java/Spring, Spring Cloud, Spring Data JPA, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Troubleshooting skills using debuggers, logs, etc., and a strong understanding of test‑driven development with Jest, Cypress, JavaScript, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Experience with public clouds such as AWS and GCP is an advantage.
• Experience with OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of build and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, UDeploy, Harness, NPM, Maven, and Gradle.
• Implement unit testing and TDD to ensure software quality and maintainability.
• Proficiency in SQL databases, MongoDB, and Oracle preferred.

Nice to Have

• Experience with observability and monitoring tech stacks.
• Understanding of Gen AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Co‑Pilot, Devin, etc., and middleware like Tibco RV, EMS, Solace, and Kafka.
• Knowledge of Python and Gen AI is a plus.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
