Job summary

Citi in India seeks a senior full‑stack engineer to lead enterprise‑scale applications across React, TypeScript, Node.js and Java microservices, delivering scalable UI frameworks and API ecosystems.

You will collaborate with global teams, drive best practices in testing (TDD/Jest) and deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift), and mentor engineers in a large financial services context.

Overview

Finance Technology enables Citi to achieve its day‑to‑day and long‑term growth goals, supporting the execution of Citi’s Strategy by providing services, technical solutions, and infrastructure across the bank. These solutions allow compliance with regulatory mandates and empower our businesses to reach their objectives, both current and long‑term. In Finance Technology we push the limits of technology, adhering to Citi’s strategic architecture principles and supporting the end‑to‑end integration of multiple global functions—including Finance, Risk, and Controllers.

Responsibilities

• Manage all technology standards across functional areas, ensuring development, understanding, and adherence globally.
• Set goals within the functional area that are delivered to appropriate Operations & Technology organizations.
• Contribute to the IT Project Leadership function to harmonize overall business and technology objectives, ensuring teams are adequately staffed and possess required skill sets.
• Provide an environment where subject matter experts can work efficiently and deliver effectively.
• Manage execution of IT strategy and roadmap for assigned technology area.
• Apply an in-depth understanding of engineering concepts and procedures, including knowledge of other areas.
• Be responsible for training, coaching, performance management, monitoring quantity and quality of work, and addressing development needs for assigned personnel.
• Make evaluative judgments based on information analysis in complicated or unique situations, utilizing multiple information sources.
• Negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate and negotiate with external parties.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of strong experience in Application Development or systems analysis roles.
• Strong experience architecting enterprise, highly scalable applications.
• Extensive experience in system analysis and programming of software applications, including managing and implementing successful projects.
• Proven engineering experience building robust, scalable, and maintainable applications in the Capital Markets Technology industry.
• Build, deploy, and test application components in a development environment during implementation, working with all layers of the application stack.
• Work proactively and independently to address project requirements, articulating issues and challenges with sufficient lead time to mitigate delivery risks.
• Influence and negotiate with senior technical leaders from partner teams of software engineers, DevOps, and production support staff to deliver robust software solutions, ensuring effective collaboration across functions.
• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
• Experience working in Financial Services or a large, complex, and/or global environment.
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
• Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities, and related reporting to identify best practices.

Technical Skills - Must Have

• 11+ years of strong experience in full‑stack development using React, TypeScript, Node.js, stylesheets, Java/JVM‑based languages (Java, Kotlin), and microservices.
• Strong experience designing and building UI frameworks using React in line with latest UI framework practices and guidelines.
• Experience with API development and its ecosystems.
• Hands‑on experience with React, JavaScript, Java/Spring/Spring Cloud/Spring Data JPA/Spring Boot microservices.
• Strong troubleshooting skills using debuggers, logs, etc.
• Strong understanding of test‑driven development using Jest, Cypress, JavaScript, JUnit, Mockito.
• Experience with public clouds such as AWS and GCP is an added advantage.
• Experience with OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of build and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, UDeploy, Harness, npm, Maven, Gradle.
• Implement unit testing and TDD to ensure software quality and maintainability.
• Proficiency in SQL databases, MongoDB, Oracle preferred.

Nice to Have

• Experience with observability and monitoring tech stack.
• Understanding of Gen AI based productivity tools such as Microsoft Co‑Pilot, Devin, etc.
• Understanding of middleware such as Tibco RV, EMS, Solace, Kafka.
• Understanding of Python; Gen AI knowledge is a plus.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
