Job summary

Citi's Finance Technology team in India is seeking an experienced senior software professional to lead design, development, and delivery of scalable enterprise applications. You will work across React, Java, microservices, and cloud platforms to support global finance data and risk platforms.

You will mentor teams, drive best practices, and ensure delivery against complex programs, collaborating with global partners to harmonize standards and accelerate re-architecture initiatives.

Qualifications

Overview

Finance Technology enables Citi to achieve its day‑to‑day and long‑term growth goals by providing services, technical solutions, and infrastructure across the bank. Finance Technology pushes the limits of technology, adheres to Citi’s strategic architecture principles, and supports the end‑to‑end integration of multiple global functions, including Finance, Risk, and Controllers.

Responsibilities

• Manage all technology standards across the functional area, ensuring development, understanding, and adherence globally.
• Set goals within the functional area that are delivered to appropriate Operations & Technology organizations.
• Contribute to the IT Project Leadership function to harmonize with overall business/technology objectives and ensure teams within the functional area are adequately staffed and possess required skill sets.
• Provide an environment where subject‑matter experts can work efficiently and deliver effectively.
• Manage execution of IT strategy and roadmap for the assigned technology area.
• Apply an in‑depth understanding of engineering concepts and procedures, and basic knowledge of related elements in other areas.
• Be responsible for training and coaching team members, performance management activities, monitoring quantity and quality of work, and addressing development needs for assigned personnel.
• Make evaluative judgments based on information analysis in complicated or unique situations, utilizing multiple sources of information.
• Negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate and negotiate with external parties.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of strong experience in Application Development or systems analysis.
• Strong experience architecting enterprise highly scalable applications.
• Extensive experience in system analysis and programming of software applications, and experience in managing and implementing successful projects.
• Proven engineering experience building robust, scalable, and maintainable applications in the Capital Markets Technology industry.
• Build, deploy, and test application components in a development environment during the implementation phase, working with all layers of the application stack.
• Work proactively and independently to address project requirements, and articulate issues or challenges with enough lead time to mitigate delivery risks.
• Influence and negotiate with senior technical leaders from partner teams of software engineers, DevOps, and production support staff to deliver robust software solutions, ensuring effective collaboration across functions.
• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
• Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment, with consistently clear and concise written and verbal communication. Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities, and related reporting to identify best practices.

Technical Skills

Must Have

• 11+ years of strong experience in full‑stack development using React, Typescript, Node.js, stylesheets, Java/JVM‑based languages such as Java and Kotlin, and microservices.
• Strong experience designing and building UI frameworks using React in alignment with the latest UI framework practices and guidelines.
• Strong experience in API development and its ecosystem.
• Hands‑on experience with React, JavaScript, Java/Spring/Spring Cloud/Spring Data JPA/Spring Boot Microservices.
• Strong troubleshooting skills using debuggers, logs, etc.
• Strong understanding of test‑driven development using Jest, Cypress, JavaScript, JUnit, and Mockito.
• Experience with public clouds such as AWS and GCP is an added advantage.
• Experience with OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of build and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, UDeploy, Harness, NPM, Maven, and Gradle.
• Implement unit testing and TDD to ensure software quality and maintainability.
• Proficiency in SQL databases, MongoDB, and Oracle (preferred).

Nice to Have

• Experience with observability and monitoring technology stack.
• Understanding of Gen AI based productivity tools such as Microsoft Co‑Pilot, Devin, etc., and middleware like Tibco RV, EMS, Solace, Kafka.
• Understanding of Python; Gen AI experience is a plus.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
