Job summary

Schaeffler India is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and integrate product data services within SAP-based environments. You will work across global teams to modernize APIs, APIs, and data processing components, driving reliable integrations and scalable solutions.

With 4+ years in software development and strong Python and SQL skills, you will contribute to S/4HANA migrations and maintain comprehensive technical documentation. This is an on-site role in Maharashtra, India.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, IT, software engineering, or equivalent.
• 4+ years in software development, backend engineering, API development, or integration.
• Hands-on Python development experience.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, and system integration patterns.
• Understanding of product data processes and ERP concepts.
• Basic cloud awareness, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Windows/Linux server environments is a plus.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, integration, and operation of Schaeffler’s product data and service landscape.
• Enhance product data processes, modernize backend and data-related services, and strengthen the integration of digital capabilities across internal and external channels in a global, cross-functional environment with teams in Germany, Poland, and India.
• Support the integration and continuous optimization of a Product information system (EPIM by VIAMEDICI) into SAP-based environments and surrounding enterprise systems
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions
• Contribute to the modernization, replacement, or cleanup of legacy services and interfaces
• Assist ongoing S/4HANA migration activities in the PIM and product data environment
• Support incident analysis and resolution in productive environments
• Support the design, development, and continuous improvement of APIs, integration services, and MCP-based interfaces
• Implement new API endpoints and microservices in alignment with architectural guidelines
• Support the API customer lifecycle, including onboarding of new consumers, guidance on API usage, and operational support including monitoring
• Support the development, enhancement, and operation of services around the PIM platform
• Develop and improve data services and processing components in the Schaeffler Data Service landscape
• Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs, services, interfaces, data flows, codebases, and operational procedures
• Collaborate closely with internal product teams, architects, and external implementation partners

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a comparable qualification
• 4+ years of professional experience in software development, backend engineering, API development, or integration environments
• Strong hands-on experience in Python
• Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Good understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and system integration patterns
• Good understanding of product data processes, system integrations, and backend service development in ecommerce environments
• Understanding of ERP-related concepts such as product and logistical data, interfaces, tables, programs, and jobs
• Basic understanding of cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting productive services
• Structured, analytical working style and ability to collaborate effectively in global teams
• Exposure to MCP, AI-related service interfaces, or similar integration concepts is a plus
• Basic knowledge of SAP ABAP, Java, data quality, data mapping, and master data-related processes would be an advantage
• Experience with Windows and Linux server environments is a plus
