Job summary

Upstox is seeking an Insurance Integration Lead (Engineering) in Mumbai to own the technical roadmap for insurer integrations—from onboarding to policy issuance, renewals, and claims. You will architect and implement scalable integration frameworks connecting multiple insurers with the Upstox ecosystem.

You will lead a small engineering team, collaborate with cross-functional groups, and drive standards for testing, automation, and monitoring in a fast-paced, product-led environment.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of engineering experience, incl. 5+ years leading insurance integration projects (policy issuance, renewals, claims).
• Experience with insurance aggregators, brokers, or InsurTech platforms.
• Hands-on backend tech: .NET Core, C#, Web APIs, REST/SOAP, Microservices, SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Experience with API Gateways, RabbitMQ, and microservice orchestration.
• Understanding of insurance product architecture, distribution models, and regulatory workflows.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving in a fast-paced, product-led environment.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.

About the Role

This role demands a deep technical mindset with strong leadership capabilities — you’ll architect, design, and implement complex integration frameworks that connect multiple insurance partners with the Upstox ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage end-to-end insurer integrations, covering APIs, workflows, and data flows across multiple partners.
• Design and develop scalable, microservices-based systems for product management, policy issuance, and claims.
• Partner with insurers and internal teams to define integration requirements, SLAs, and process flows.
• Build reusable integration frameworks to accelerate onboarding of new insurers and product lines.
• Manage and mentor a small engineering team, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-quality code delivery.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Business teams to align integrations with business objectives and user journeys.
• Continuously enhance integration standards, testing automation, and monitoring frameworks.

Who You Are

• 8–10 years of strong engineering experience, including at least 5 years leading insurance integration projects (policy issuance, renewals, endorsements, claims).
• Proven experience working with insurance aggregators, brokers, or InsurTech platforms.
• Hands-on expertise in backend technologies such as .NET Core, C#, Web APIs, REST/SOAP, Microservices, SQL/PostgreSQL.
• Experience with API Gateways, RabbitMQ, and microservice orchestration.
• Strong understanding of insurance product architecture, distribution models, and regulatory workflows.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, product-led environment.
