Job summary

Asian Paints Limited is seeking an experienced Instrumentation professional to lead maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration of plant instrumentation, DCS and PLC systems. You will develop control logic, configure alarms and trends, and support efficiency improvement initiatives across the plant.

The role requires hands‑on expertise with ABB 800xA DCS, PLCs (AB/Siemens), and field instruments, plus strong leadership to guide a technical team and ensure timely maintenance and uptime.

Qualifications

• Hands on experience with instrumentation monitoring and measurement.
• Experience with ABB 800xA DCS and PLC systems (AB, Siemens).
• Knowledge of plant communication networks and Profibus/Profinet.
• Maintenance and calibration of field instruments.
• Maintenance scheduling for DCS, PLC and field instruments.
• Spares management and inventory control for instrumentation assets.
• Experience with Honeywell Fire Alarm systems.
• People management and team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead instrument maintenance and troubleshooting in the plant.
• Develop logic in DCS/ PLC and configure alarms, events, trends and reports.
• Support automation initiatives and efficiency improvements at the plant.
• Ensure health of the communication topology and take corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare maintenance schedules for DCS, PLC and field instruments.
• Manage spares inventory for instrumentation assets.
• Guide and mentor the instrumentation team and address grievances.
• Review team performance to foster a motivated, performance‑driven culture.

Job description

Brief description of knowledge and skills required.

• Hands on experience of various type of monitoring & measuring instrumentation. (Level, Flow, Temperature, Pressure, Weighing system)
• Hands on experience of ABB 800xA DCS Platform & PLC (AB, Siemens) system. Logic development, Software trouble shooting, Graphic development, Alarm, event, trend & Report configuration. Logic development in FBD, ST, SFC, Ladder logic. Supporting new automation initiatives at Plant (e.g., local communication, Enterprise Asset Management, Efficiency improvement tools etc)
• Basic understanding of communication topology or network. Checking the health of the communication topology (Profibus DP & ProfNet) and taking necessary actions.
• Well experienced in maintenance, troubleshooting & calibration of field instruments.
• Maintenance schedule preparation for all critical process control & monitoring system (DCS, PLC & Field Instrument) and ensure the proper and timely maintenance activities as per standard guidelines.
• Spares Management: -Maintaining adequate inventory of spares and consumables towards Instrumentation asset.
• Hands on experience in Honeywell Fire alarm system
• People Management: -Direct & guide team members; counsel workmen & address grievances.
• Review performance to build a motivated team & a performance-oriented work culture.
