Job summary

Sarthee Consultancy is seeking a skilled Field Instrumentation Engineer in Lucknow, India, to support installation, calibration, and maintenance of key process instruments across plant systems.

You will work with DCS/PLC/SCADA, manage instrument configurations, perform tuning, and ensure safe operation of hazardous area equipment while following SOPs and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience in installation, calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of field instrumentation (pressure, temp, flow, level).
• Hands-on work with DCS/PLC and SCADA systems including commissioning and loop checking.
• Knowledge of interlocks, PID/tuning and basic automation logic development.
• Experience with industrial networks (Profibus/DP/PA) and instrument configuration.
• Maintenance/calibration of control valves and actuators; valve tuning and positioner setup.
• Experience with drives (VFD/Servo) and protection relays; safety interlocks.
• Field wiring, cabling, terminations and reading P&ID/loop diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Follow plant safety standards (PTW, LOTO, confined space, hot work) and ensure safe handling of instruments.
• Install, calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain transmitters, sensors and analyzers.
• Work with DCS/PLC/SCADA: troubleshooting, interlocks, loop checks and commissioning.
• Configure instruments on Profibus networks; manage node IDs, tags, ranges, comm setup.
• Maintain field devices including control valves, actuators, tuning and positioner configs.
• Handle drives (AC VFD/Servo) and protection relays; ensure proper automation hardware.
• Wiring, cable routing and panel wiring; read P&ID and control schematics.
• Operate and monitor HMIs; support compressors, chillers and environmental systems.

Job description

Role & responsibilities1. Safety & Compliance

• Follow plant safety standards (PTW, LOTO, confined space, hot work).
• Ensure safe handling of instruments and hazardous area equipment.
• Comply with SOPs and statutory safety regulations.

2. Field Instrumentation

• Installation, calibration, troubleshooting & maintenance of pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters and analyzers.
• Maintenance of switches, sensors, gas detectors, weighing and drum filling systems.
• Preventive, predictive & breakdown maintenance.
• Calibration documentation and root cause analysis.

3. DCS / PLC / Scada

• Hands-on experience in DCS, PLC (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and SCADA.
• PLC troubleshooting, interlocks, loop checking and commissioning.
• PID, cascade and closed-loop control tuning.
• Basic automation logic development/modification.

4. Industrial Communication

• Knowledge of Profibus PA/DP networks.
• Instrument configuration (Node ID, tag, range, communication setup).
• Network diagnostics and troubleshooting.

5. Control Valves & Actuators

• Maintenance and calibration of pneumatic/electric control valves and actuators.
• Valve tuning, stroking and positioner configuration (Siemens SIPART).
• Pneumatic tubing installation and troubleshooting.

6. Drives & Automation Hardware

• Experience in AC Drives (VFD), Servo Drives and protection relays.

7. Field Wiring & Panel Work

• Field wiring, cable laying, termination and panel wiring.
• Reading P&ID, loop diagrams and control schematics.

8. Utilities & Auxiliary Systems

• Working knowledge of HMI/control systems for compressors, chillers, cooling towers, pump panels, fire alarm and environmental monitoring systems.
