Job summary

Sterling & Wilson Private Limited Mumbai, part of Shahpoorji Pallonji Group, is seeking an instrumentation engineer to review and develop instrument layouts and systems on projects. You will interpret P&IDs, Instrument Index and I/O Lists, and prepare detailed cost estimates for materials and labor.

You will provide technical inputs for proposals, conduct vendor evaluations, assess risks and opportunities for cost optimization, and ensure compliance with international standards and project codes.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading P&IDs, Instrument Index and I/O Lists.
• Experience with instrument hook-up drawings, JB layouts, field instruments, valves, analyzers, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems.
• Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and SIL/Functional Safety (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare Instrument BOQ / MTO and Detailed cost estimates (material and labour).
• Provide technical inputs for proposals and tenders, bid clarifications and technical deviations.
• Conduct vendor budgetary inquiries and techno-commercial evaluations.
• Identify project risks and cost contingencies and opportunities for cost optimization.
• Recommend cost-effective alternate makes while ensuring technical compliance.
• Ensure adherence to relevant international and project-specific standards and codes.

Technical & Engineering Responsibilities

Review and interpret:

• P\&IDs
• Instrument Index
• I/O Lists

Develop and review:

• Instrument hook-up drawings
• Junction box (JB) layouts
• Field instruments (PT, TT, FT, LT)
• Control valves and on-off valves
• Analyzers and analyzer packages
• PLC / DCS / SCADA systems
• Instrument cables, cable trays, conduits, impulse tubing

Apply knowledge of:

• Hazardous area classification
• SIL / Functional Safety (preferred)

Prepare:

• Instrument BOQ / MTO
• Detailed cost estimates (material and labour)

Provide technical inputs for:

• Proposals and tenders
• Bid clarifications and technical deviations

Conduct:
