Job summary

Sterling & Wilson is seeking an experienced engineer to support technical bids with instrument estimation and cost evaluations. You will prepare BOQ/MTO, cost and man-hour estimates, and provide techno-commercial inputs for domestic and international bids.

Candidates should be proficient in hazardous area classifications, SIL concepts, standards, and codes, balancing technical compliance with cost competitiveness while coordinating with vendors for budgetary inquiries.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience in instrument estimation and bid preparation.
• Knowledge of hazardous area classifications and SIL concepts is essential.
• Experience with BOQ / MTO, cost estimates and man-hour estimation.
• Ability to evaluate vendors and perform techno-commercial assessments.
• Familiarity with applicable industrial standards and codes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instrument BOQ / MTO and cost estimates (material + labour).
• Estimate man-hours and contribute to proposal inputs for bids.
• Perform techno-commercial evaluation and vendor budget inquiries.
• Suggest cost-effective alternate makes while maintaining compliance.
• Identify risks and estimate contingencies; ensure alignment with codes.

Job description

Technical Skills & Knowledge: -

Strong understanding of:

a. P&IDs, Instrument Index, I/O List

b. Instrument hook-ups, JB layouts, loop diagrams

c. Experience in estimation of:

• Field instruments (PT, TT, FT, LT)


• Control valves, onoff valves


• Analyser & packages


• Panels, marshalling, PLC / DCS / SCADA


• Instrument cables, trays, conduits, impulse tubing

d. Knowledge of hazardous area classification

e. Exposure to SIL / Functional Safety is an advantage

Estimation & Proposal Expertise: -

Preparation of:

• Instrument BOQ / MTO


• Cost estimates (material + labour)


• Man-hour estimation


• Proposal technical inputs


• Vendor budgetary inquiry & techno-commercial evaluation


• Ability to suggest cost-effective alternate makes


• Risk identification & contingency estimation
