Job summary

HOCS Projects India is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support multi-disciplinary energy projects. You will design I&C systems, prepare instrument data, coordinate vendors, and support through FEED, detailed engineering and commissioning.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical/Instrumentation, 5–9 years' experience, and willingness to work from the Vadodara office with occasional site work. Strong writing and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or Control Engineering.
• 5–9 years of instrumentation and controls experience in energy, EPC or EPCM environments.
• Experience preparing instrumentation datasheets, instrument indexes, I/O lists, control narratives and loop documentation.
• Willingness to work from the Vadodara, Gujarat office and travel for site work if needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare I&C deliverables: instrument indexes, datasheets, specifications, I/O lists, control narratives, loop diagrams and installation details.
• Select and specify field instrumentation, control valves, analysers, and related hardware.
• Support PLC, DCS, HMI, SCADA and safety-instrumented system design and configuration.
• Provide I&C input to P&IDs and coordinate interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare material requisitions and review vendor documentation; support technical bid evaluations.
• Assist with construction work packages, architecture, network and cabinet documentation.
• Participate in HAZOP/SIL activities and project reviews as required.
• Support concept development through FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, commissioning and start-up.
• Complete site visits, field verification and commissioning support as required.
• Ensure compliance with codes, client standards and HOCS safety practices.

Role Overview

HOCS Projects is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support the successful delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering projects across the energy sector. This role is responsible for instrumentation and control system design, technical deliverables, equipment specification, vendor coordination and project support throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering disciplines, designers, vendors and project teams to deliver safe, practical and reliable I&C solutions aligned with project requirements, client expectations and applicable industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare I&C deliverables, including instrument indexes, datasheets, specifications, I/O lists, control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams, loop diagrams and installation details.
• Select and specify field instrumentation, control valves, analysers, packaged-equipment interfaces and related control-system hardware.
• Support the design and configuration of PLC, DCS, HMI, SCADA and safety-instrumented system hardware and software, as applicable to project scope.
• Provide I&C input to P&IDs and coordinate interfaces with process, electrical, mechanical, piping and other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare material requisitions, support technical bid evaluations, review vendor documentation and resolve assigned technical queries.
• Assist with construction work packages, control-system architecture, network and cabinet documentation, and other project deliverables.
• Participate in P&ID, interdisciplinary, constructability and process-safety reviews, including HAZOP and SIL activities, as required.
• Support projects through concept development, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up.
• Complete site visits, field verification, loop checks, commissioning support and troubleshooting, as required.
• Ensure assigned work complies with project requirements, client standards, applicable codes and regulations, and HOCS quality and safety practices.
• Complete accurate, well-documented deliverables within established schedules and communicate progress and technical issues to the project team.

Education, Professional Registration & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or Control Engineering from a recognised university, or a recognised diploma in Instrumentation, Automation or Engineering Technology.
• Professional registration or membership with a relevant Indian engineering institution is considered an asset. Familiarity with Canadian engineering practices and professional requirements is also an asset for supporting international projects.
• Approximately 5 to 9 years of progressive instrumentation and controls engineering or design experience in an industrial, energy, EPC or EPCM environment.
• Demonstrated experience preparing instrumentation datasheets, instrument indexes, I/O lists, control narratives, loop documentation and technical specifications.
• Working knowledge of field instrumentation, control valves, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems and industrial communication networks.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, control-system architecture drawings, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and vendor documentation.
• Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation, Hexagon Smart Instrumentation or comparable engineering database tools is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of applicable IEC, ISA, Indian and project-specific requirements; familiarity with Canadian codes, client standards and functional-safety practices is considered an asset.
• Experience supporting multi-disciplinary projects through engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and common engineering review and document-management tools.
• Strong technical writing, communication, organisation, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to complete occasional site or field work, as required.
• Legally entititled to work in India and able to work from the Vadodara, Gujarat office.
