Berger Paints in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, invites an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join our plant maintenance team. You will calibrate, install, and troubleshoot instruments, control valves, PLC/DCS components, and weighing systems, ensuring reliable process operations.

The role requires hands-on skills with HART and 4-20mA loops, adherence to LOTO and safety standards, and willingness to work night shifts and on-call for breakdowns.

Qualifications

• ITI or Diploma in relevant field
• 2-5 years hands-on experience in manufacturing or process plant
• Expertise in sensor or transmitter scaling and PLC wiring

• Strong knowledge of safety practices: LOTO and permit systems
• Willingness to night shift and handle breakdowns 24/7

Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintenance & Calibration

Calibrate pneumatic, electrical, and electronic instruments (pressure, flow, level, and temperature) using primary and secondary standards.

Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on control valves, actuators, and positioners.

Maintain accurate records of calibration results and equipment history.

2. Troubleshooting & Repair

Diagnose malfunctions in complex control loops and automated systems.

Repair or replace faulty components, including sensors, transmitters, and cables.

Assist in the troubleshooting of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and DCS (Distributed Control Systems).

3. Installation & Commissioning

Install new instrumentation and loop-check systems during plant turnarounds or upgrades.

Interpret and work from P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), loop sheets, and electrical schematics.

4. Cabling & Glanding

1. Execute professional cable laying through conduits and trays. Perform precision cable glanding (armoured and non-armoured) to ensure weather-proof and explosion-proof seals for junction boxes and instruments.

2. Termination: Expertly terminate signal and power cores according to wiring schematics, ensuring clean connections and proper ferruling.

5. Load Cell & Weighing Systems:

Install and align load cells for tanks, hoppers, and conveyor scales.

Perform deadweight calibration and span adjustments to ensure weighing accuracy.

Troubleshoot excitation voltage issues and signal drift in summing boxes.

Competencies required:

Technical Knowledge | Proficiency with HART communicators, multimeters, and signal generators. |

| Systems | Understanding 4-20mA loops, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, or Profibus. |

| Safety | Strong knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) | PERMIT SYSTEM.

| Soft Skills | High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights.

Common Tools Used:

HART/Foundation Fieldbus Communicators (e.g., Emerson Trex)

Deadweight Testers for pressure calibration.

Multimeters & Oscilloscopes for electrical diagnostics.

Soldering Irons for circuit board repairs.

Education/ skills / experience: ITI or Diploma/ 2-5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or process plant/ Expertise in sensor or transmitters scaling, PLC wiring.

Required: Urgent requirement; candidate must join as soon as possible.

Shift Flexibility: Must be willing to work night shifts and handle breakdown calls 24/7.

Result-Oriented: Must stay until the breakdown is resolved and the task is completed, regardless of shift timings (Not a clock-watcher).

COMMENTS: We require a hard-working Technician who works well under the direction of Senior Engineers. The candidate must be dedicated to completing assigned tasks on time and be available for extended hours during critical plant breakdowns.
