Job summary

Skillventory in Jamnagar, India, seeks an Instrumentation & Control maintenance engineer to keep plant instruments reliable and calibrated. You will troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI, and control valves, and support upgrades and energy-saving projects.

A BE/BTech in Instrumentation is preferred with 3–6 years’ relevant experience. You will work on installation, commissioning, FAT/SAT, and validation activities, review vendor proposals, and maintain P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument logs while

Qualifications

• Bachelor level engineering in instrumentation or related field.
• 3–6 years in instrumentation and control maintenance in process industries.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems across the plant.
• Handle preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of field instruments and control valves.
• Calibrate and certify instruments according to schedules.
• Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI, VFDs, sensors, transmitters, and automation systems.
• Troubleshoot control logic and industrial networks; support system upgrades.
• Participate in automation, energy-saving, and reliability improvement projects.
• Support installation, commissioning, FAT, SAT, and validation activities.
• Prepare technical specs, BOQs, and review vendor proposals.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain calibration records, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument docs.
• Prepare maintenance reports and KPI dashboards.
• Assist audits, HAZOPs, risk assessments, and MOC activities.
• Provide timely technical support during shifts and breakdowns.

Role & responsibilities

• Ensure reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems across the plant.
• Handle preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters, control valves, analysers, and switches.
• Ensure timely calibration and certification of instruments as per maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI, VFDs, sensors, transmitters, and automation systems.
• Troubleshoot control logic, communication networks, and industrial automation systems.
• Support modifications, upgrades, and optimization of control systems.
• Participate in automation, plant improvement, energy-saving, productivity, and reliability improvement projects.
• Support installation, commissioning, FAT, SAT, and validation activities.
• Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, and support review of vendor proposals.
• Ensure compliance with plant safety standards, EHS, quality systems, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain calibration records, SOPs, maintenance logs, equipment history, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument documentation.
• Prepare maintenance reports and KPI dashboards.
• Support audits, inspections, HAZOP, risk assessments, and Management of Change activities.
• Provide timely technical support during shift operations and breakdowns.

Preferred candidate profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electrical & Instrumentation, or related discipline.
• 3-6 years of experience in instrumentation and control maintenance within manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, FMCG, or process industries.
• Hands-on experience with PLC, SCADA, DCS, VFDs, sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
• Strong troubleshooting experience in instrumentation, automation, and industrial communication systems.
• Knowledge of PLC programming such as Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, etc.
• Working knowledge of SCADA/DCS, calibration, loop checking, control valve maintenance, and tuning.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP.
• Ability to read P&IDs, loop drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
• Safety and quality-oriented approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Candidates from Electroplating, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, API, Specialty Chemicals, Pharma, Oil & Gas, Power, or Manufacturing industries will be preferred.
