Job summary

Officia Plastocraft is seeking an Injection Molding Supervisor to oversee day-to-day molding operations on the shop floor at our Ahmedabad, Gujarat facility. You will manage machine loading, mold changeovers, and supervise operators, ensuring targets meet cycle times with minimal rejection and scrap.

You will coordinate with QA, maintain process parameter sheets, and track material usage while upholding safety and 5S standards on the floor.+

Qualifications

• 3–6 years hands-on injection molding experience; 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of 150–1000 ton horizontal machines.
• Ability to set process parameters independently and troubleshoot defects.
• Fluent floor communication in Gujarati/Hindi; basic English for documentation.

Responsibilities

Injection Molding Supervisor

Role Summary

Supervise day-to-day injection molding operations on the shop floor machine output, mold changeovers, manpower, quality and safety - so that daily production targets are met at the right cycle time with minimum rejection and scrap.

Key Responsibilities

Production

• Plan and allocate shift-wise machine loading against the daily/weekly production schedule
• Monitor cycle times, shot weight and output per machine; investigate and correct deviations
• Supervise mold changeovers and minimise changeover downtime
• Set and validate process parameters (temperature, pressure, injection speed, holding time, cooling); maintain approved parameter sheets for each mold
• Track raw material (PP, HDPE, nylon/glass-filled nylon, ABS), masterbatch and regrind consumption; control wastage and maintain correct blend ratios

Quality

• Approve first-piece samples before running a batch
• Monitor rejection reasons - short shots, sink marks, flash, warpage, weld lines, colour variation - and drive corrective action
• Coordinate with QC on in-process and final inspection; maintain rejection and rework records
• Ensure component finish meets export-order standards

Maintenance

• Coordinate preventive maintenance of molding machines, molds, chillers, hoppers, dryers and MTCs with the maintenance team
• Report mold damage or wear early; follow up on mold repair and trial runs
• Maintain machine downtime records with root causes

People & Safety

• Supervise machine operators, helpers and mold setters across the shift; manage attendance, shift handover and manpower deployment
• Train operators on safe machine operation, correct handling and quality checkpoints
• Enforce PPE use, machine guarding, lockout procedures and 5S/housekeeping on the floor

Reporting

• Maintain daily production reports, downtime logs, rejection sheets and material consumption records
• Report production status and issues to the Production Manager at the end of each shift

Requirements

Essential

• Diploma/ITI in Plastic Technology, Mechanical, Tool & Die, or equivalent; graduates in relevant streams also considered
• 3-6 years of hands-on injection molding experience, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role
• Working knowledge of horizontal injection molding machines (hydraulic and/or servo), typically in the 150-1000 ton range
• Ability to set process parameters independently and troubleshoot common molding defects
• Understanding of thermoplastic materials, drying requirements and regrind handling
• Comfortable maintaining shop-floor records and basic computer entry
• Working Gujarati/Hindi for floor communication; basic English for documentation

Preferred

• Experience in furniture, automotive, or large-part molding
• Exposure to mold trials and new product development
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 documentation or export-order quality requirements
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance planning
