Job summary

Hitachi Energy India Limited seeks an Industrial Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing processes, drive efficiency, productivity and cost optimization across operations in India.

You will manage a team of industrial engineers, implement lean and Six Sigma, conduct time/motion studies, design layouts, and ensure MES/ERP integration.

The role collaborates with production, quality, supply chain, and R&D to sustain operational excellence and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 12–15 years in industrial engineering in manufacturing; 3–5 years in leadership.
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma expertise; Green/Black belt preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of industrial engineers with guidance and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain industrial engineering methodologies across manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct time studies, motion studies, and process analyses to identify bottlenecks and waste.
  • Design and optimize production layouts, material flow, and workstation designs for efficiency and ergonomics.
  • Establish and maintain SOPs and work instructions for manufacturing processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement using lean, Six Sigma, and related methodologies.
  • Develop and implement capacity planning models to meet production demands.
  • Analyze production data and KPIs to monitor performance and identify trends.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain, and R&D to drive operational excellence.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, automation, and equipment to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for management on process improvements and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.

The Industrial Engineering Manager will lead and optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness within HITACHI ENERGY INDIA LIMITED. This role involves applying industrial engineering principles to improve operational performance and support strategic business goals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of industrial engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain industrial engineering methodologies, tools, and best practices across manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct time studies, motion studies, and process analyses to identify bottlenecks, waste, and areas for improvement.
  • Design and optimize production layouts, material flow, and workstation designs to enhance efficiency and ergonomics.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for manufacturing processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other relevant methodologies.
  • Develop and implement capacity planning models to ensure optimal resource utilization and meet production demands.
  • Analyze production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor performance and identify trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, supply chain, and R&D to drive operational excellence.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, automation, and equipment to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for management on process improvements and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering roles within a manufacturing environment, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Proven expertise in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Proficiency in process mapping, time studies, capacity planning, and layout optimization.
  • Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
