Job summary

Hitachi Energy India Limited is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to lead a team of industrial engineers, driving lean transformations and Six Sigma projects across the manufacturing operations in India. You will develop methodologies, perform time studies, optimize layouts, and implement SOPs to improve productivity and quality.

The role requires 12–15 years in industrial engineering with leadership experience, strong data analytics, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering; master's preferred.
  • 12–15 years in industrial engineering in manufacturing; 3–5 years in leadership.
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred).
  • Strong analytical and data-driven problem solving.
  • Proficiency in process mapping, time studies, capacity planning, and layout optimization.
  • Experience with MES and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team; continuous improvement culture.
  • Strong project management; multiple projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety regs.

  • Conduct time studies, motion studies, and process analyses to identify bottlenecks, waste, and areas for improvement.
  • Design and optimize production layouts, material flow, and workstation designs.
  • Establish and maintain SOPs and work instructions for manufacturing processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other relevant methodologies.
  • Develop and implement capacity planning models to ensure optimal resource utilization and meet production demands.
  • Analyze production data and KPIs to monitor performance and identify trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, supply chain, and R&D to drive operational excellence.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, automation, and equipment to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and recommendations for management on process improvements and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.

  • Proven expertise in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Proficiency in process mapping, time studies, capacity planning, and layout optimization.
  • Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
