Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a skilled Industrial Designer to drive concept generation, prototyping and validation for defence systems. You will craft ergonomic workspaces, address human factors, and design for easy assembly and maintenance.

The role requires strong 3D modelling, rendering, and graphic design skills, plus collaboration with software teams to implement UI concepts. Based in India, the position emphasizes end-to-end product development with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Proficient in creative problem solving and concept ideation.
• Strong sketching and visualization abilities for product concepts.
• Proficient in 3D modelling and realistic rendering software.
• Experience with image editing/graphics software.
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Apply Design Thinking for industrial design including user research, prototyping and validation.
• Design user workspaces for defence systems/equipment.
• Ensure ergonomics and human factors are integrated into designs.
• Package and layout defence equipment for manufacturability and transport.
• Design for assembly, manufacturing and maintenance.
• Develop soft models and mock-ups for concept evaluation and refinement.
• Coordinate with Engineering for concept optimisation and detailing.
• Collaborate with software teams on UI/UX implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• User research, concept generation, prototyping, validation of concept etc. by applying 'Design Thinking' process for 'Industrial Design'.
• User workspace design for defence systems/equipment
• Design for human factors (ergonomics)
Packaging and layout of defence systems/equipment
• Design for assembly, manufacturing and maintenance
• Development of soft model and mock-ups for concept evaluation and refinement
• Coordination with Engineering teams for concept optimization and detailing
• User experience design (user interface design) & Collaboration with software teams for implementation of the User Interface
