Job summary

DEIC-L&T Precision Engineering & Systems IC is seeking an experienced design engineer to create user workspaces for defence and industrial systems. The role emphasizes ergonomics, 3D modelling, and realistic rendering to visualize concepts.

You will collaborate with analysis, engineering and software teams to refine layouts, packaging, and interfaces, while supporting manufacturing and field trials.

Qualifications

• BTech degree required for the role.
• Experience designing for defence/industrial systems is preferred.
• Strong visualization and conceptualization skills.

Responsibilities

• Design user workspaces for defence and industrial systems.
• Apply ergonomics and human factors principles.
• Plan packaging and layout of complex systems.
• Design for assembly, manufacturing and maintenance.
• Develop soft models and mock-ups for evaluation.
• Coordinate with analyses and engineering teams for optimization.
• Collaborate with software teams for UI implementation.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, integration and testing.
• Support field trials and collect feedback for design improvements.
• Record feedback to drive ongoing design refinements.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• User workspace design for Defence systems/equipment & Industrial System.
• Design for human factors (ergonomics)
• Packaging and layout of complex engineering systems
• Design for assembly, manufacturing and maintenance
• Development of soft model and mock-ups for concept evaluation and refinement
• Coordination with Analysis and Engineering teams for optimization and detailing
• Collaborate with software teams for implementation of the User Interface
• Technical support to execution teams for manufacturing, integration and testing
• Technical support for field trials
• Recording of feedback from manufacturing, integration and testing phases for design improvement

Prior Experience required

• Design and development experience of a technology focused product

Key Skills:

• Problem solving and conceptualization
• Good sketching and product visualization skills
• Proficient in 3D modelling and realistic rendering software tools
• Proficiency in image editing and graphic design software
• Sound knowledge of engineering basics such strength of materials, fluid dynamics etc is a plus
