Location: Pune

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for an Industrial Designer to join our R&D team and help shape the aesthetics, ergonomics, and physical development of our products. You will work closely with engineers and senior designers on CMF (Color, Material, Finish) decisions, material selection, ergonomic evaluation, and hands‑on prototyping — while also contributing to the development of design languages that give our product range a consistent, recognizable identity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design team in developing product aesthetics, form, and visual language, with a strong focus on ergonomics and user comfort
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of design languages/guidelines to ensure consistency across the product portfolio
  • Research and recommend materials, colors, and finishes (CMF) suited to product function, ergonomics, cost, and brand identity
  • Assist in material selection based on tactile feel, durability, manufacturability, sustainability, and budget constraints
  • Build physical mockups and prototypes (foam, 3D-printed, hand-fabricated) to test form, fit, grip, and ergonomic performance
  • Conduct ergonomic studies and user handling tests, and iterate designs based on findings
  • Create and iterate on CAD models to support design exploration and prototyping
  • Coordinate with vendors/suppliers for material samples, swatches, and finish testing
  • Document CMF specifications and maintain material/finish libraries
  • Support usability and design reviews by preparing prototypes and visual references
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure ergonomic and aesthetic intent is preserved through to production
  • Stay updated on ergonomic design principles, emerging materials, finishing techniques, and CMF trends
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design, Product Design, or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in industrial design, CMF, or ergonomic product development (open to strong entry-level candidates with a solid portfolio)
  • Portfolio demonstrating aesthetic sensibility, ergonomic design thinking, material exploration, and prototyping work
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Rhino, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar)
  • Hands‑on prototyping skills (foam modeling, 3D printing, basic fabrication tools)
  • Familiarity with rendering tools (KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite) for visualizing CMF and form options
  • Basic understanding of ergonomic design principles (grip, comfort, anthropometrics)
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC, sheet metal, etc.)
  • Detail‑oriented with strong material/color/form sensibility
  • Good communication skills to collaborate across design and engineering teams
Nice to Have
  • Experience developing or contributing to a brand/product design language
  • Experience building a CMF library or working with material suppliers
  • Exposure to sustainable/eco‑friendly material practices
  • Familiarity with color theory and finish specification standards (Pantone, RAL, etc.)
  • Background in ergonomic or human‑centered product categories (tools, medical devices, wearables, sports equipment, etc.)
  • Experience with rapid prototyping tools/workshop equipment
