Job summary

Damico Ship Ishima is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure professional to support our maritime operations from Mumbai. You will manage network devices, FortiGate firewalls, and Windows server environments, ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across vessels and onboard systems.

The role requires hands-on experience, 24/7 shift readiness, and strong English communication to coordinate with vessels, vendors and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 35 years of hands-on IT infrastructure experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of network administration with FortiGate/Fortinet and Cisco environments.
• Ability to configure, manage and troubleshoot Layer 2/Layer 3 switches, VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, trunk/access ports, routing and segmentation.
• Practical knowledge of FortiGate firewall administration, including policies, NAT, VPN, routing and logs.
• Experience supporting IT infrastructure, communication systems and electronic/network-connected equipment.
• Vessel/onboard IT experience would be an advantage.
• Good understanding of cybersecurity best practices including firewall security and VPN/remote access.
• Strong troubleshooting across hardware, Windows OS, applications, networking and connectivity.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and Microsoft 365 preferred.
• Ability to diagnose issues systematically and work independently.
• Coordinate with vessels/users, vendors, service providers and internal teams.
• Good written and spoken English; strong communication of technical issues.
• Willingness to learn, take ownership and continually develop technical knowledge.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Minimum 35 years of hands-on IT infrastructure experience, preferably within a technical, industrial, maritime, or similar operational environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of network administration, particularly FortiGate/Fortinet and Cisco networking environments.
• Ability to configure, manage, and troubleshoot Layer 2/Layer 3 switches, VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, trunk/access ports, routing, and network segmentation.
• Practical knowledge of FortiGate firewall administration, including firewall policies, NAT, VPN, routing, security profiles, logs, and basic troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting IT infrastructure, communication systems, and electronic/network-connected equipment. Previous vessel/onboard IT experience would be an advantage.
• Good understanding of cybersecurity best practices, including network segmentation, firewall security, access control, VPN/remote access, endpoint protection, patching, and basic security monitoring.
• Strong troubleshooting capability across hardware, Windows operating systems, applications, networking, and connectivity issues.
• Basic understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365 would be preferred.
• Ability to diagnose technical issues systematically and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to coordinate with vessels/users, vendors, service providers, and internal technical teams when resolving incidents.
• Good command of written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly.
• Candidate should have a strong willingness to learn, take ownership of technical issues, and continuously develop their technical knowledge.
