Job summary

Clover Infotech is seeking an API Developer (IBM API Gateway) to design, build, and secure RESTful and SOAP APIs connecting core banking systems, digital channels, and fintech partners.

You will use IBM API Connect and DataPower Gateway to deliver scalable, high‑performing integrations, enforce strong security (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mutual TLS), and manage the full API lifecycle in an Agile banking environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years hands-on experience with IBM API Connect and IBM DataPower Gateway.
  • Experience in banking/financial services integrations is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols (OAuth, TLS, CORS) and data transformation.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and SOAP services.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain RESTful and SOAP APIs using the IBM API Connect ecosystem.
  • Configure API policies, security, rate limiting, and routing rules within IBM DataPower Gateway.
  • Integrate backend core banking systems, databases, and cloud microservices.
  • Enforce security protocols and perform API security audits.
  • Write transformation logic using DataPower GatewayScript or XSLT for payload conversions.
  • Manage full API lifecycle and facilitate testing with tools like Postman or SoapUI.
  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and DevOps in Agile environments.

Job Description: API Developer (IBM API Gateway)
Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced API Developer to design, develop, and manage secure, scalable integration points at Bank. In this role, you will be responsible for building robust APIs that connect our core banking systems, digital channels, and third-party fintech partners. You will leverage the IBM API Connect / Gateway platform to ensure seamless, high-performance, and secure financial data exchange. [1, 2, 3]

Core Responsibilities
  • API Development: Design, implement, and maintain RESTful and SOAP APIs using the IBM API Connect ecosystem. [1, 2, 3]
  • Gateway Management: Configure API policies, security settings, rate limiting, and routing rules within IBM DataPower / API Gateway. [1, 2]
  • Integration: Connect backend core banking systems (CBS), databases, and modern cloud microservices.
  • Security Implementation: Enforce strict financial-grade security protocols, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, Mutual TLS (mTLS), and encryption standards. [1]
  • Transformation & Routing: Write custom DataPower GatewayScript (JavaScript) or XSLT policies for complex payload transformations (XML to JSON, etc.). [1]
  • Testing & Lifecycle Management: Manage the full API lifecycle (Create, Run, Manage, Secure) and perform unit testing using tools like Postman or SoapUI. [1, 2]
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Enterprise Architects, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams to deliver features in an Agile environment.
Technical Skills Required
  • Primary Platform: Minimum 3+ years of hands‑on experience with IBM API Connect and IBM DataPower Gateway.
  • Architecture: Strong understanding of microservices architecture, SOA, and ESB concepts.
  • Languages: Proficiency in JavaScript (GatewayScript), XSLT, XML, JSON, and Java/J2EE.
  • API Standards: Deep knowledge of OpenAPI Specifications (OAS/Swagger) and RAML.
  • Security: Practical experience with web security protocols (WS-Security, SSL/TLS certificates, CORS).
  • DevOps & Tools: Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab), version control (Git), and deployment in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Preferred Qualifications
  • Domain Experience: Prior experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Insurance (BFSI) sectors, with exposure to payment gateways, UPI, or core banking integrations.
  • Certifications: IBM Certified Application Developer - API Connect or IBM Certified System Administrator - DataPower Gateway is a major plus.
  • Education: Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
