Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. is seeking an experienced API and Java backend specialist to join a Scrum team focused on API and microservices development.

You will design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java and SpringBoot, and implement RESTful APIs with third-party integrations. The role requires strong Java 17, Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Spring Security skills, cloud experience (AWS), API security knowledge (OIDC/OAuth2), and collaboration with multiple teams to deliver

Qualifications

• 10+ years in IT with 6+ years API & microservices experience.
• 8+ years in Java Backend with Spring Framework/Spring Boot.
• Hands-on with Java 17, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security and microservices.
• Knowledge of API security including OIDC and OAuth2.0.
• 4+ years Agile/Scrum experience.
• 2+ years cloud experience (AWS preferred).
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, SFTP, REST/SOAP/GraphQL.
• Strong unit testing with JUnit.
• Experience with messaging platforms: IBM MQ, Kafka, NATS.
• Experience with API proxies, API management, RAML/YAML/Swagger.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Job description

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Be a part of a Scrum team working on API and microservices development using open-source technologies like Java, SpringBoot etc
• Desing, develop and maintain enterprise grade applications using Java and SpringBoot
• Design, develop and consume APIs following RESTful API design principles and third-party integrations.
• Lead API development and integrations, working with other developers, architects, and product owners.
• Integrate applications with internal and external systems using APIs, messaging and event-driven architecture.
• Build consistent reusable & secure APIs and microservices following all enterprise standards and best practices.
• Develop code that is highly scalable and has consistent performance even with high load on the application
• Work with multiple API/Integration development teams, other architects within the organization, business, security and other stakeholders in driving API solutions
• Establish a strong culture of security awareness and ownership to establish the DevSecOps practices within API Dev Lifecycle
• Responsible for debugging within a complex environment that includes multiple connected systems.
• Responsible for operational reporting, health monitoring of the application
• Ensure that the API based architecture enables best-in-class user experience and response time.
• Ensure the reusability of all the components developed.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT, including a minimum of 6 years in API and microservices development, using leading methodologies and processes.
• 8+ years of experience in Java Backend Development and skills with Spring Framework and Springboot.
• Strong hands-on experience in Java 17, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security and Microservices Architecture
• Knowledge of API security including OIDC and OAuth2.0 concept
• 4+ years’ experience working in Agile/Scrum model.
• 2+ years’ experience working in cloud (preferably AWS) and familiar with cloud services.
• Experience with integrations with databases (SQL and NoSQL), SFTP servers, REST/SOAP/GraphQL APIs and other systems and platforms.
• Strong skills and expertise in unit testing frameworks like Junit
• Experience integrating with Messaging platforms like IBM MQ, Kafka and NATS
• Experience with architecture, design, development, deployment, testing, and integration of enterprise-wide applications.
• Experience with a wide variety of continuous integration and source control tools.
• Experience with designing API proxies and REST APIs using API Management platform.
• Knowledge of API security including OIDC and OAuth2.0 concept
• Experience designing API specifications in RAML/YAML/Swagger
• Understand the fundamentals of DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and ability to review troubleshoot pipeline issues and collaborate with DevOps team.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a strong focus on customer service and solution ownership.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
• Experience with IBM API Connect (APIC) and IBM MQ messaging integrations.
• Knowledge of API migration initiatives MuleSoft to SpringBoot or APIC.
• Experience with Netflix conductor/Orkes is plus.
• Healthcare domain experience, Enterprise, Legacy application integration experience is a plus.
• Experience and knowledge of HL7 file formats is a plus.
