Job summary

Sopra Steria in Chennai, India is seeking an API Management specialist to design, deploy, and manage Axway API Gateway/Manager. You will implement security policies, help onboard APIs, and ensure scalable lifecycle processes in an Agile setup.

The role requires 3–5 years IT experience with Axway, solid knowledge of API security and cloud/containerization, and collaboration with client teams. BE/BTECH preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of total IT experience with 3+ years dedicated to Axway API Management.
• Strong understanding of API security standards (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, mTLS).
• Hands‑on experience with REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, and messaging (JMS, MQ).
• Good hold in CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle).
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix and scripting (Shell, Groovy, Python).
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Exposure to API governance, versioning, and monetization concepts.

Responsibilities

• Implement security policies including OAuth2, JWT, API key management, rate limiting, and threat protection.
• Configure and troubleshoot API Gateway filters, circuits, and policy chains.
• Collaborate with architects and developers to integrate APIs with backend systems using REST, SOAP, JMS, and MQ.
• Support API onboarding for internal and external consumers, including partner integrations.
• Monitor API performance, perform root cause analysis, and resolve production incidents (L2/L3).
• Prepare technical documentation, API specs (OpenAPI/Swagger), and runbooks.
• Work within Agile/Scrum delivery models and coordinate with onshore/offshore and client stakeholders.

Job Description

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of total IT experience, with 3+ years dedicated to Axway API Management (API Gateway, API Manager, API Portal)
• Strong understanding of API security standards (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, mTLS)
• Hands‑on experience with REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, XSLT, and messaging protocols (JMS, MQ)
• Good hold in CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle)
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and scripting (Shell/Groovy/Python — good to have)
• Understanding of API governance, versioning strategies, and API monetization concepts
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus
• Good to have: exposure to IBM DataPower, MuleSoft, or other API Gateway platforms
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work directly with client teams
