Job summary

R S C is seeking an experienced IBM AIX HMC / Frame Administrator to manage enterprise IBM Power Systems infrastructure in Pune. You will handle HMC, VIOS, firmware lifecycle, and SAN connectivity to ensure high availability of mission-critical production environments.

The role requires 5–12 years of relevant experience and hands-on expertise in hardware management, VIOS administration, and automation using shell scripts and Ansible.

Qualifications

• 5–12 years of experience in IBM Power systems administration.
• Strong knowledge of HMC, VIOS, and firmware lifecycle management.
• Experience with SAN connectivity and storage frameworks.
• Proficiency in shell scripting (ksh/bash) and automation with Ansible.
• Familiarity with REST APIs for HMC automation.

Responsibilities

• Administer IBM Hardware Management Consoles (HMC) across Power environments.
• Manage IBM Power Systems Frames, CEC, and firmware upgrades.
• Perform VIOS installation, configuration, and patching.
• Configure SEA, MPIO, SDDPCM, and SAN zoning.
• Coordinate firmware upgrades and hardware maintenance; RCA when needed.
• Develop automation for HMC tasks using shell scripts and Ansible.

Job Description

About the Role: We are looking for an experienced IBM AIX HMC / Frame Administrator to manage and support enterprise IBM Power Systems infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Hardware Management Console (HMC), IBM Power Frames, VIOS Administration, Firmware Lifecycle Management, SAN Connectivity, and Hardware Incident Management.

The role involves managing IBM Power hardware, virtualization infrastructure, firmware updates, VIOS administration, SAN connectivity, and ensuring high availability of mission-critical production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

IBM Power & HMC Administration

• Administer IBM Hardware Management Consoles (HMC) across enterprise IBM Power environments.
• Manage IBM Power Systems Frames, CEC, and FSP firmware upgrades.
• Perform firmware planning using IBM FLRT.
• Create and manage LPAR Profiles.
• Perform Dynamic LPAR (DLPAR) operations.
• Allocate CPU, Memory, and Virtual Resources.
• Monitor hardware health and firmware compliance.

VIOS Administration

• Install, Configure and Maintain Virtual I/O Servers (VIOS).
• Administer vSCSI, Virtual Fibre Channel (NPIV), and SEA.
• Manage Virtual Optical Media.
• Configure Shared Ethernet Adapter (SEA).
• Perform VIOS patching and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot VIOS performance and connectivity issues.

SAN Administration

• Coordinate SAN Zoning with Storage Team.
• Configure MPIO and SDDPCM.
• Validate Storage Failover.
• Perform Storage Connectivity troubleshooting.
• Work with EMC, IBM FlashSystem, Hitachi, NetApp or similar enterprise storage platforms.
• Coordinate LUN Masking and Storage Presentation.

Firmware & Hardware Management

• Perform Power Systems Firmware Upgrades.
• Execute Concurrent Maintenance Activities.
• Coordinate IBM Hardware Support Cases (SR/PMR).
• Work with IBM Field Engineers.
• Replace failed hardware components.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Automation

• Develop Shell Scripts using KornShell (ksh) and Bash.
• Automate HMC administrative tasks.
• Use HMC CLI for scripting.
• Experience with Ansible and HMC REST APIs is highly preferred.
