Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking an experienced AIX Administrator in Chennai with 7–10 years of experience to install, configure and maintain AIX OS and servers. The role involves improving security, patching, and ensuring robust LPAR/DLPAR, HMC, NIM, and HACMP operations to meet SLA/OLA targets.

The incumbent will lead an AIX operations team, coordinate with vendors, and ensure reliable system performance for multiple critical applications.

Qualifications

• Install and configure AIX operating systems and servers.
• Support AIX OS to run various software applications.
• Maintain and upgrade the AIX OS.
• Install and test AIX OS patches.
• Develop procedures for AIX security and management.
• Working knowledge on Administration of LPARs/DLPARs, HMC, NIM Servers, VIO servers & Powervc
• Should have excellent knowledge and hands-on in IBM HACMP Clusters with trouble shooting.

Responsibilities

• An ability to lead the AIX operational team and drive the SLA/OLA concerned
• Escalation of problems in a timely manner as per the defined escalation matrix.
• Ability to communicate technical contents clearly and good on vendor co-ordination.

Must-Have

• Install and configure AIX operating systems and servers.
• Support AIX OS to run various software applications.

(Ideally should not be more than 3-5)

Good-to-Have

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in AIX domain.
• Detect and troubleshoot system operational and functional issues.
• Plan and coordinate the installation, testing, and maintenance of AIX systems software and related hardware.
• Good working knowledge on LPAR/DLPARs
• Good working knowledge on NIM & HMC
• Good working knowledge on VIO server & Powervc
• Good working knowledge on IBM HACMP clusters.
• Develop performance improvement initiatives for AIX system environment
