As an AIX Administrator, you’ll support and manage IBM’s AIX-based infrastructure, working at the heart of mission‑critical systems that power leading industries. You’ll work directly with clients, often on‑site, ensuring high availability, performance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine AIX system administration tasks including monitoring, patching, user management, backups, and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in AIX environments; escalate complex problems to senior engineers.
- Install, configure, and maintain AIX OS, applications, and middleware components.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including storage, networking, and virtualization to support infrastructure needs.
- Participate in AIX system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
- Maintain accurate system documentation, standard operating procedures, and runbooks.
- Provide on‑call and 24/7 support as needed per client requirements.
- Travel to client locations or data centers as required for system support.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
Technical Skills
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in AIX administration roles.
- Strong knowledge of AIX OS, PowerHA, virtualization (LPAR, VIOS), logical volume management, and file systems.
- Proficiency with AIX CLI and scripting (e.g., Shell, Bash, Perl).
- Experience with storage technologies, backup and recovery solutions.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
