Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking an experienced IT infrastructure professional to manage Hyper-V environments with strong virtualization expertise, including Live Migration, Failover Clustering, and VM performance tuning. The role requires hands-on experience in enterprise remote infrastructure support and a solid ITIL foundation.

Primary focus is on ensuring high availability, capacity planning, and seamless migrations, with secondary exposure to VMware technologies.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years hands-on server virtualization experience with Hyper-V as core expertise.
• Deep Hyper-V architecture knowledge incl. Failover Clustering, Live Migration, and Replica.
• Strong skills in Hyper-V performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization.
• Experience in VM lifecycle management, provisioning, expansion, and decommissioning.
• Secondary familiarity with VMware ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter administration.
• Experience in server migrations (P2V and cross-platform virtualization).
• Understanding of Windows Server platforms used with Hyper-V.
• Knowledge of SAN storage concepts, multipathing, and VM storage design.
• Awareness of Active Directory integration, DNS dependencies, and virtualization services.
• Good grasp of ITIL processes: Incident, Change, Problem Management.
• Experience in enterprise/remote infrastructure support environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2.5 / Level 3 operational support for Hyper-V environments.
• Administer and maintain Hyper-V infrastructure for high availability and performance.
• Troubleshoot Hyper-V cluster, VM, storage, and performance issues.
• Manage Hyper-V Failover Clusters, Live Migration, and replication scenarios.
• Perform VM provisioning, capacity management, and performance optimization.
• Support server migrations (P2V and virtualization refresh activities).
• Provide secondary support for VMware environments as required.
• Monitor virtualization platforms and address capacity or performance risks.
• Participate in change, release, and maintenance activities for virtualization platforms.
• Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and runbooks.
• Drive standardization, optimization, and automation in virtualization operations.

Mandatory: ITIL Framework Knowledge, Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request, SLA & KPI Management, Documentation and Reporting (RCA, MSR, WSR, Aging, etc.)

Must-Have:

• 5-7 years of hands-on experience in server virtualization, with strong primary expertise in Microsoft Hyper-V.
• In-depth experience in Hyper-V architecture, Failover Clustering, Live Migration, Hyper-V Replica, and VM high availability.
