Overview

About the job: Windows VMware Senior Administrator.

Responsibilities

• Manage the installation, deployment and configuration of Windows servers and the VMware virtualization platform; perform security checks and troubleshoot issues to ensure maximum performance and uptime for all Windows servers and the VMware environment.
• Handle day-to-day operations of Windows and VMware technologies and support the design, implementation, and maintenance of Windows servers and the VMware virtualization platform.
• Define and enforce standards, policies, and procedures for Windows and VMware system administration, security, and compliance.
• Install latest security patches on ESXi hosts via SSH and VUM quarterly on ESX/ESXi servers.
• Migrate physical servers to virtual using standalone converter.
• Create and manage user accounts, OS hardening, handle services of Windows and ESXi servers, manage password policies, file permissions, Admin access, and restrict anonymous access to registry, etc.
• Install and upgrade operating systems (Windows Server 2008 & 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019) and ESXi versions (5.0, 6.0, 6.5, 6.7, 7.0, 8.0); manage antivirus and patches.
• Create VMs, take snapshots, clones, templates, deploy VMs from templates, perform VM migration on ESXi servers, and Storage Migration.
• Monitor system performance and conduct performance tuning to optimize resource utilization and enhance system efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Windows servers and VMware virtual machines, providing timely resolution and root cause analysis.
• Implement and maintain security measures to protect Windows servers and VMware VMs from threats and vulnerabilities.
• Lead initiatives to automate routine tasks and streamline administrative processes using scripting and automation tools.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to support integration of Windows servers and VMware VMs with other infrastructure components.
• Stay updated with the latest Windows and VMware technologies and best practices; evaluate and recommend new tools and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Perform other responsibilities as required by higher levels of supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred from an accredited university.
• 5-8 years of experience as a Windows/VMware Administrator or in a similar role, with demonstrated expertise in managing a complex Windows environment for lead level.
• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in Windows/VMware Administration or a related field for Specialist level.
• 0-4 years of experience for Analyst level.
