Role & Responsibilities

To ensure smooth, cost‑effective, and time‑bound movement of shipments between hubs, gateways, and line‑haul networks, thereby improving service reliability and operational efficiency.

Operational Need

Mid‑mile operations form the backbone of courier and logistics connectivity between origin and destination. With increasing shipment volumes, multiple air and surface connections, and strict delivery timelines, dedicated leadership is required to manage complexity, reduce failures, and maintain service levels.

Key Business Drivers

• Volume Growth & Network Complexity: Daily handling of high tonnage across air and surface modes; multiple hubs, gateways, and line‑haul partners; increased risk of misroutes, delays, and documentation errors.
• Service Level Adherence (SLA): Direct accountability for on‑time connections and dispatches; continuous monitoring of flight schedules, vehicle movements, and cut‑off times; proactive escalation and recovery planning to avoid service failures.
• Cost Control & Loss Prevention: Reduction in offloads, re‑handling, and penalty costs; prevention of revenue leakage due to wrong CD updates, misrouting, or delays; better utilisation of air and surface capacity.
• Operational Governance & Compliance: Ensures SOP adherence across hubs and gateways; coordinates with airport authorities, airline partners, and internal teams; maintains proper documentation, tracking, and audit readiness.
• Manpower & Vendor Management: Effective deployment of shift controllers, supervisors, and ground staff; improved productivity through training, monitoring, and accountability; strong control over vendor performance and service quality.
• Customer Experience & Business Continuity: Faster issue resolution for stuck, delayed, or missing shipments; improved trust with key customers and internal stakeholders; reduced operational dependency on ad‑hoc follow‑ups.
