Role Purpose
The Plant HR Lead partners with the Plant HR Manager to ensure that his/her plant has the right number and type of talent to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results; ensures that the plant establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as "One Corning" in support of Corning’s values; assists in the successful implementation of global HR business processes within the plant; and ensures plant compliance with HR‑related legal and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures plant has the right number and type of talent required to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results.
- Ensures plant realizes required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence necessary to achieve desired business results.
- Ensures plant establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as "One Company" in support of Company’s values.
- Ensures the successful implementation of global HR business processes within the plant.
- Ensures plant compliance with HR‑related legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Establishes HR infrastructure for a brownfield manufacturing site in alignment with Company policies, procedures and culture.
- Establishes and maintains a presence on the plant floor to keep a pulse on the organization.
- Proactively identifies and resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that protects the plant’s ability to operate effectively.
- Manages and mitigates employee grievances by ensuring supervisors and leadership create an open forum for discussion and resolution of plant issues.
- Demonstrates leadership and management practices required to establish and maintain a positive work environment.
- Takes ownership for specific HR initiatives that support the effective operations of the organization by developing and/or delivering HR programs.
- Identifies employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and works with the Plant HR Manager to identify actions for improvement.
- Administrates contract labor management and government apprenticeship program.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Full‑time MBA or postgraduate degree in HR.
- 12–15 years of work experience in a manufacturing organization in India.
- Strong interpersonal skills – able to build trust quickly with employees at multiple levels.
- Solid technical understanding of HR and ER.
- Track record of delivering tangible business impact.
- Strong business acumen – interest in and ability to learn the business and understand business drivers.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentations).
- Strong influence skills, experience influencing stakeholders with competing and/or differing priorities, and ability to manage in a matrix organization.
- Experience with problem solving and conflict resolution in unionized and non‑unionized work environments.
