You help us hire the team, get them onboarded properly, and keep the people side of a growing company in order.
Namma Spirits is a fast growing alcobev startup with two brands going to market right now. Amari is India's first African IMFL whiskey. La Santé is India's first ready to drink mimosa, built for brunches, poolside afternoons and day celebrations.
We are launching in Goa first, with a rollout across Puducherry, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu behind it. That means we are hiring hard: sales associates, coordinators, on trade executives, area managers and a field team that keeps growing month on month.
Right now there is no HR function. There is a founding team doing it between everything else. That is the gap you come in to fill.
Recruitment and onboarding
This is the bulk of the job, and it starts on day one.
- Post and refresh our openings on Naukri, Indeed, LinkedIn, Internshala, WorkIndia and local Goa job groups.
- Source and screen candidates for sales associates, coordinators, on trade executives and area managers. Field roles move fast, so speed matters.
- Run first round telephonic screening: check basics, language, location, willingness to travel, and how they come across.
- Schedule interviews with the founding team and the sales leadership, and keep the calendar clean.
- Maintain the hiring tracker: every candidate, which stage they are at, what happened next. Nobody should go cold because we forgot them.
- Prepare offer letters and appointment letters, and follow up until they are signed.
- Run joining formalities: document collection, ID proofs, bank details, background checks where needed.
- Run induction for every new joiner: who we are, what the brands are, what the role expects in month one.
HR operations and records
The unglamorous half, and the half that keeps a company out of trouble.
- Build and maintain employee files: contracts, IDs, addresses, emergency contacts, everything in one place.
- Track attendance and leave for the field team, and chase what is missing before month end.
- Prepare monthly payroll inputs: attendance, leave, travel allowance and incentive figures, handed over clean and on time.
- Keep our HR templates current: offer letters, appointment letters, NDAs, exit letters, relieving letters.
- Help with basic statutory compliance and documentation. We will teach you what applies to us.
- Keep a simple headcount tracker by state and role, so the founding team always knows where we stand against the hiring plan.
Culture and engagement
Most of our team is out in the market, not in an office. Keeping them connected is part of the job.
- Run internal communication: WhatsApp groups, announcements, monthly updates, new joiner introductions.
- Build the induction pack and keep it current as the brands and the product range grow.
- Plan engagement: team meets, birthdays, festival celebrations, recognition for the month's top performers.
- Check in with new joiners at week one and month one, and tell the founding team honestly what you are hearing.
- Collect feedback from the field team and flag problems early. A sales associate who is unhappy in month one usually leaves by month three.
What you need to bring
- You are comfortable on the phone. Most of hiring is calling strangers, asking direct questions and making a judgement. If cold calls make you freeze, this is not the role.
- Fluent English and Hindi. Our field team speaks Hindi. Konkani or Marathi is a real plus in Goa.
- Organised by instinct. You keep a tracker current without being reminded. Fifteen candidates in five stages should not confuse you.
- Excel or Google Sheets basics. Filters, sorting, a simple formula. You do not need to be an expert.
- Discretion. You will see salaries, personal documents and performance conversations. They stay with you.
- Based in Goa, or ready to move. This is an in office role.
- You follow through. Small team, no one chasing you for an offer letter at 7pm.
- Studying HR or management is welcome but not required. First internship is fine.
Bonus points
None of these are required. Any one of them moves your application up the pile.
- You have recruited before, even informally: college placements, a family business, a friend's startup
- Familiar with Naukri, Indeed, LinkedIn Recruiter, WorkIndia or Apna as a recruiter rather than a job seeker
- You know your way around payroll or attendance software
- Some exposure to Indian labour law basics: PF, ESI, gratuity, shops and establishments
- Experience hiring for field, retail, hospitality or FMCG roles
- You write clean, clear English. A lot of this job is writing letters and messages people take seriously
- Studying HR, psychology, management or an MBA
What you get out of it
- You build the HR function, you do not inherit it. The trackers, the templates, the onboarding process: they will be yours. Very few interns get that.
- Real hiring volume. You will screen and process more candidates in three months here than in a year at a large company, across sales, field and office roles.
- Direct access to the founding team. You sit with them and work with them every day, with no layers in between.
- A front row seat to a launch. You will watch a company go from one state to five and staff it as it happens.
- ₹12,000 per month, paid monthly.
- A full time offer at the end of the three months if you have done the job well. We would rather build our HR team from the inside.
- A certificate and a reference either way.
