You are in the market every day, getting our bottles into shops and bars, and getting those shops to reorder.
Namma Spirits is a fast growing alcobev startup with two brands going into the market right now. Amari is India's first African IMFL whiskey. La Santé is India's first ready to drink mimosa: orange and citrus blossom, champagne style cork, built for brunches, poolside afternoons and day celebrations.
Goa is our first market. Puducherry, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu follow. That means the shelves we are fighting for are empty right now, and the person who fills them is the Sales Associate.
This is a ground floor job at a company that is about to get much bigger.
What you will do every day
- Visit wine shops, MRP outlets, bars, restaurants and clubs across your Goa beat. Your day is spent in the market, not at a desk.
- Get our brands stocked. Explain the product to the shopkeeper or bar manager, handle the objections, and close the order.
- Chase the reorder. A shop that stocks once and never repeats is not a win. Getting stock moving off the shelf is the actual job.
- Place our branding material properly: tent cards, foam boards, wall stickers, frosted glass stickers and counter units. Placed where customers see them, not stuffed behind the counter.
- Build real relationships with shopkeepers, bar staff and bartenders. In this market, who likes you decides what gets recommended.
- Report daily: outlets visited, orders taken, stock positions, what competitors are doing and what is selling.
- Support tastings, launches and activations in your outlets.
How the money actually works
We would rather be straight with you than print a big number and explain it later.
- Fixed: ₹25,000 a month. On payroll, travel allowance included, paid whether the month goes well or badly.
- Incentive: paid per case, every month. The rate rises as your volume rises, and the higher rate applies to your whole month's volume once you cross a slab, not just the cases above it. Your monthly target is 200 cases.
- Team bonus. When the whole team hits target, every member earns an extra amount on every case they sold. One person short and nobody gets it, which is deliberate. We want a team that pulls each other along.
- Realistic picture. Sell nothing and you earn ₹25,000. Hit your target consistently and you are well clear of it. Our strongest performers can reach up to ₹80,000 in a month. The incentive is uncapped, so the ceiling is set by your volume and not by us.
- We will walk you through the full slab table in the interview, before you accept anything.
What you need to bring
- Good Hindi. This is not negotiable, it is the language of the trade. English is useful and Konkani is a real advantage in Goa.
- You are willing to be out in the market all day. Heat, traffic, shops that say no. If a desk job is what you want, this is not it.
- Willing to travel across your beat and, when needed, outside it.
- A two wheeler and a licence are a strong advantage. Tell us if you have one.
- You can take a no and keep going. Half the shops will not stock on the first visit. The ones who close come back on the third.
- Basic phone skills. You will log visits and orders on your phone daily.
- Legal drinking age, since you will be in licensed outlets and handling alcohol brands.
- No prior experience is required. If you have sold anything before, in FMCG, telecom, retail or anywhere else, that helps. If you have not, we will train you. We care that you are willing to learn and willing to be out there.
Bonus points
None of these are required. Any one of them moves your application up the pile.
- You have sold in FMCG, beverages, liquor or food service before
- You already know shopkeepers, bar managers or distributors in Goa
- You have worked a beat or route sales role and know what a daily journey plan is
- Experience placing branding material or running in store activations
- You have worked on an incentive linked salary before and liked it
- You are from Goa or have lived here long enough to know the market by season
Where this goes
- Goa is the first of five states. Puducherry follows, then Karnataka, then Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Every one of those markets needs a sales team, and we are building towards a couple of hundred people.
- The people who run those teams are going to come from the group we hire now. A Sales Coordinator here manages five associates. An Area Sales Manager runs the state team. Both of those seats open up as we expand, and we would much rather promote someone who has already sold our brands than hire a stranger to manage them.
- If you join in Goa and perform, you are early in a company that is about to be five times the size.
