Job Description

The Histopathology Technician will be responsible for receiving tissue samples, processing specimens, preparing slides, supporting staining procedures, maintaining laboratory documentation, and assisting pathologists in diagnostic workflow. This requires Diploma qualification, 1–2 years of laboratory experience, knowledge of histopathology techniques, sample safety, equipment handling, and quality practices. The candidate will support accurate and timely histopathology reporting in Ahmedabad.

• Receive, verify, label, and process histopathology specimens as per laboratory SOPs.
• Assist in tissue grossing support, fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining workflow.
• Operate microtome, tissue processor, water bath, embedding station, and related equipment safely.
• Prepare high-quality tissue sections and slides for pathologist review.
• Maintain specimen records, slide logs, block records, and histopathology documentation.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and tracking of tissue blocks and slides.
• Follow biosafety, PPE, infection control, and biomedical waste disposal protocols.
• Prepare reagents, stains, solutions, and consumables as per departmental requirement.
• Monitor equipment cleanliness, maintenance needs, and daily working condition.
• Report sample mismatch, inadequate specimen, processing errors, or equipment issues to seniors.
• Coordinate with pathologists, lab technicians, accessioning staff, and reporting teams.
• Support internal quality checks, audit preparation, and documentation compliance.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper arrangement of histopathology work areas.
• Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of patient sample information.
• Support timely and reliable histopathology laboratory services.
