Job Title: Histopathology Technician

Job Summary
The Histopathology Technician will be responsible for supporting the Histopathology laboratory in processing, preparing, and maintaining tissue specimens for microscopic examination. The role involves ensuring accurate sample handling, timely processing, quality standards, and adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, identify, label, and process tissue specimens as per standard operating procedures.
- Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining procedures.
- Prepare tissue sections using microtomes and other laboratory equipment.
- Assist in routine and special staining procedures, including H&E staining.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of specimens and laboratory materials.
- Maintain accurate records of specimens, tests, and laboratory activities.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks of laboratory equipment.
- Monitor reagent, chemical, and consumable inventory and ensure adequate stock availability.
- Follow all laboratory quality control, safety, infection control, and biomedical waste management protocols.
- Coordinate with Histopathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure timely reporting and workflow.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, equipment issues, or quality concerns to the reporting supervisor.
- Participate in internal quality assurance and accreditation requirements, including NABL/NABH standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Histopathology laboratory.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/BMLT) or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant certification or specialization in Histopathology will be preferred.
- 15 years of experience in a Histopathology laboratory.
- Experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory will be preferred.
