Job summary

Dr Lal PathLabs is seeking a Histopathology Technician to receive, verify and process histopathology specimens, perform tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and routine H&E staining. You will handle special stains and IHC as per protocol, ensure proper labeling and documentation, and maintain slide quality and instrument performance.

Responsibilities

• Receive, verify, accession and process histopathology specimens according to SOPs.
• Perform tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, sectioning and routine H&E staining.
• Assist with special stains and IHC as per protocols.
• Ensure proper specimen ID, labeling, tracking and documentation at every stage.
• Prepare high-quality slides and maintain staining/section quality.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot histopathology equipment (tissue processors, embedding stations, microtomes, stainers).
• Conduct quality control checks and follow QC parameters and SOPs.
• Coordinate with pathologists regarding specimen quality and repeat sections.
• Maintain records of samples, blocks, slides, reagents and equipment maintenance.
• Monitor inventory of reagents and consumables; arrange timely replenishment.
• Follow biosafety, infection control and biomedical waste guidelines.
• Support internal quality assurance and CAP/NABL activities.
• Ensure timely turnaround time (TAT) for all cases.
• Assist in implementing lab policies and process improvements.
• Train junior technicians/trainees in histopathology procedures.

• Handle special stains and assist with immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures as per laboratory protocols.
• Ensure proper specimen identification, labeling, tracking, and documentation at every stage.
• Prepare high-quality slides and maintain consistency in staining and section quality.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histopathology equipment, including tissue processors, embedding stations, microtomes, automated stainers, and related instruments.
• Perform quality control checks and ensure adherence to defined SOPs and quality parameters.
• Coordinate with pathologists regarding specimen quality, slide preparation, repeat sections, and special investigations.
• Maintain accurate records of samples, blocks, slides, reagents, quality control (QC), and equipment maintenance.
• Monitor reagent and consumable inventory and coordinate timely replenishment.
• Follow biosafety, infection-control, biomedical waste management, and laboratory safety guidelines.
• Participate in internal quality assurance, audits, CAP/NABL-related activities, and corrective/preventive actions wherever applicable.
• Ensure timely turnaround time (TAT) for all assigned cases.
• Support implementation and adherence to laboratory policies and process improvements.
• Train and guide junior technicians/trainees on histopathology procedures when required.
