Summary of Job Profile
Main purpose of PCB designer will be to design complex, high-reliability Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) for Automotive circuits.
Candidate must have good experience in PCB design using Allegro tool or similar CAD tools, with understanding of processes involved in schematic capture, layout, CAM, and DFM/DFT.
Candidate must be well versed with concepts of basic power electronics, switching circuits, and microcontroller circuits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design complex, HDI rigid & rigid‑flex PCB layout tasks for automotive industry.
- Create and maintain PCB and schematic symbol library within PCB CAD and PLM systems.
- Work with electrical and mechanical teams to meet electrical, mechanical and thermal aspects.
- Handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, managing own time to meet project milestones and schedules.
- Ensure EMI/EMC compliant designs, implementing ground shielding & routing techniques to achieve first‑pass compliance.
- Manage tight clearance & creepage rules for low/high voltage isolation & thermal dissipation for high‑power components.
- Communicate with PCB manufacturer and assembler to resolve problems encountered in PCB fabrication and assembly.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill, Abilities (KRA's) required to successfully perform the job
- Proficient in using EDA tools, preferably Allegro 17.2 or higher.
- Knowledge about IPC and automotive standards for PCB design.
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI compliance and thermal aspects for PCB.
- Familiarity with CAM tools like CAM350, Pollex or similar to verify PCB design.
- PCB layout design, especially sound knowledge on DDR, BGA, switching supplies, etc.
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification required for the position
Experience: 3 or more years PCB layout experience.
Qualification: B.Tech / BE in Electronics & Communication Engineering.
Technical Competencies
- Should be able to understand and interpret technical and scientific data.
- Should have ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Should have ability to generate fabrication, assembly data & test jig data (Gerber, Pick & Place, ODB++, ASCII, etc.).
- Should have strong understanding of PCB layer stackup, material selection, manufacturing & test processes (DFx).
- Should have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of languages like SKILL, Python, etc. for tool automation will be an added advantage.
Non‑Technical Competencies
- Good writing and communication skills with ability to write good technical reports.
- Ability to manage own time and multitask to achieve project deadlines.
- Good interpersonal and inter-team skills to work with electrical, mechanical & manufacturing teams.
- Willing to travel domestically or internationally as and when required.
