Job Summary

• We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail‑oriented Ophthalmology Coding & Clinical Documentation Specialist with strong clinical and coding expertise in ophthalmology.
• The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in ophthalmic coding, diagnostic testing interpretation, payer policy compliance, and clinical documentation review to support accurate billing and regulatory adherence.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of eye anatomy and ophthalmic clinical workflows.
• Review and validate physical examination documentation and required elements.
• Accurately code E/M office visits (99202–99215) and ophthalmology visit codes (92002, 92012, 92004, 92014).
• Code ophthalmology office‑based procedures including Avastin injections, Botox injections, SLT, PI procedures, and foreign body removal.
• Interpret and code ophthalmic diagnostic tests such as refraction, OCT, biometry, A‑scan, and pachymetry.
• Apply appropriate ophthalmology diagnosis (ICD‑10) codes in compliance with clinical documentation.
• Ensure adherence to payer‑specific policies related to ophthalmology services.
• Review and validate contact lens (CL) fitting documentation, lens types, and payer policies related to CL coding.
• Ensure correct application of bundled and non‑bundled procedures.
• Review ABN (Advance Beneficiary Notice) and DVM forms for completeness and compliance.
• Maintain accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality in all coding and documentation activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Strong knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy and clinical examination components.
• Proven hands‑on experience in ophthalmology coding and documentation.
• In‑depth understanding of US healthcare coding guidelines and payer policies (preferred).
