Job summary

Balasore Alloys seeks a seasoned Maintenance Manager to lead planned preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of the HEMM fleet in open-cast mining projects. You will drive fleet availability, analyze MTBF/MTTR and control budgets, spares, and maintenance costs per tonne/hour.

The role requires deep experience with OEM equipment, hydraulics and diagnostics, plus strong leadership of engineers and contract workers to ensure safety and compliance under Mines Act and DGMS.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing large HEMM fleets in open-cast mining or large earthmoving projects.
• Strong exposure to OEM equipment (Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, Volvo, BEML, Tata Hitachi, Sandvik, Epiroc).
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, powertrain, undercarriage, auto-electricals and diagnostic tools.
• Demonstrated ability to reduce maintenance cost per tonne and improve equipment availability.

Responsibilities

• Lead planned preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of the HEMM fleet excavators, dumpers, dozers, graders, wheel loaders, drills, water sprinklers and support equipment.
• Drive fleet availability and utilisation targets; analyse MTBF / MTTR and drive root-cause elimination of repetitive failures.
• Prepare and control the HEMM maintenance budget, spares inventory, consumables, tyre and lubricant cost per tonne / per hour.
• Finalise AMC / MARC contracts, negotiate with OEMs and monitor contractor and OEM performance.
• Plan capital equipment replacement, rebuild and overhaul schedules; prepare techno-commercial justification for new procurement.
• Ensure statutory compliance for machinery under the Mines Act and DGMS, including permits, testing and record-keeping.
• Lead a team of engineers, technicians and contract workmen; drive safety, 5S and skill development in the workshop.
• Deploy condition monitoring, oil analysis and telematics/FMS data to move the fleet toward predictive maintenance.
