Job summary

SEGULA Technologies in Chennai seeks an experienced Automotive interior trims designer to lead ground-up design of plastics components, from concept through production.

You will create CATIA V5 models, assemblies and drawings, ensure packaging and manufacturing feasibility, and collaborate with Design & Release teams and suppliers across global sites. 6–8 years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
• 6–8 years of automotive plastic trim design experience (door trims preferred).
• Strong CATIA V5, Teamcenter; Vismockup a plus.
• Knowledge of plastic materials and injection moulding processes.
• Understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and drawing standards.
• Independent worker with ownership of tasks; strong communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent teamwork across global cross-functional environments; problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Conversant with Vehicle Architecture, Vehicle Aggregate Groups, Sub-Groups, Systems and Sub-Systems.
• Expertise in Interior Trims Design and Development – Headliner, Soft Trim - Interior - Exterior Hard Trim/Soft Trim.
• Ground-up design of all trims (Plastics) components through detailed design and production delivery.
• Design and development of interior trims aggregates; decision-making with Design & Release Engineers and suppliers.
• Create CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using CATIA V5.
• Ensure CAD models and drawings comply with Ford procedures and standards.
• Ensure designs meet packaging, DFM, DFA and design rule requirements.
• Establish manufacturing, assembly and service feasibility.
• Optimize concepts and designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global peers; report status.
• Engage with New Product Introduction milestones and delivery criteria for engineering.
• Monitor timelines and program targets (cost, weight, quality, timing).
